That must say something surely? After all with Scotland aiming for independence and Northern Ireland becoming either re absorbed by the South or itself becomes an independent Republic, the break up of Britain and the identity that went with it must surely be on the cards?

Interesting to see it described this way from outside. At least I assume it's from outside. I think it would be nearer the mark to say there is a vocal element in Scottish politics advocating a symbolic move towards independence. It is certainly not a universal viewpoint and, I would contend, not even a majority one in Scotland.

I think that's why a proper, reasoned debate is needed. It's about time the issue was settled, one way or another.

I also feel a bit bad when I see some people in the south implying that it's somehow a terrible insult upon them. Nobody's talking about building a big wall along the border. Whatever happens, Scotland's going to be in the same place. It's a political issue and nobody should take it personally.

The missus found a small cache of Peroni on sale and brought it home to me!  The very first sip and I was back in the blessedly cool basement of the Mergellina hostel in Naples in 1997, where they sold a cold half-litre bottle and a plate of spaghetti pomadoro for 1,500 lira (which wasn't much even then, about a pound I think).  I could hear the incessant honking of the horns and feel the throbbing of my feet, and savour the exhausted satisfaction of a day tramping about the slopes of Vesuvius. Taste and memory (and beer), you can't beat it.

I'd have avoided Vesuvius and gone straight to the bar. Sometimes I feel so terribly sorry for people who aren't Scottish.

You should draw Strontium Dante or something and send it in. We'll get Molcher to film everyone in the office laughing at it.

I almost pooed myself yesterday. I've been doing a week of early starts and to maximise my sleep time I have been waiting until I get to work before I drop the kids off at the pool.

Yesterday was really foggy and it took me an extra 30 minutes to get in, by which time I was so desperate to go that I didn't think I could get out of the car and stand up. I took a chance on a fart to relieve some pressure and got away with it, but I was almost bent double by the time I had covered the 50 meters from the car park to reception.

When I got there there was a sign on the door from the security guard saying that he was on patrol for 10 minutes  .

I was trying to decide if I was better of just going in my pants or dropping a log in the big flowerpot by the door when I spotted the cleaner passing through reception and luckily he recognized me and let me in, lucky for him too I guess.

Age comes to us all.
