Hmm Bredan McCarthy! Tek Judge in Mini-skirt? Maybe a little too much artistic license on that one!

Lovely Glen Fabry Slaine in that issue though!

Hmm! That's what worried me. I remember a story with a Med judge in a white helmet, and the Apocalypse war had one med-judge just with red crosses on his shoulder pads.

Didn't Tek have some assembly of tools and sensores attached to their helmets?

Very Carl Critchlow. Try to smooth out the junctions between panel elements to smooth the flow of story and its a little unrefined in places. Neaten and smooth.

Apart from that pitiful criticism VERY VERY impressive

General / Re: Can judges transfer between divisions?
29 October, 2010, 09:13:29 PM
So...

1 - All cadets enter the Academy with the aim of becoming a Street judge

2 - Cadets may be redirected to specific divisions if they show an aptitide for another discipline. All judges who show weakness are expelled not moved to a non street division.

OR - Judges all pass as street and then specialise if they want (which means Street is the least specialised?)

OR - If you fail Street you get reassigned which means that all other divisions are secondary to street.

3 - The only real 'official' examples of divisional transfer are demotions (i.e. to traffic) or as a senior judge transferring to run a division, or to move to SJS.

4 - There seems to be no reason why a judge can't move between divisions (as long as they have the prerequisite skill set) but what reason would the have other than a demotion or punishment.

5 - Judges reassigned due to poor conduct are probably stuck there and rarely move due to the shame of such dishonourable transfer.

6 - Judges wanting to enter some form of transfer program to Street should be put through the mill to see if they have what it takes. What happens if they fail the transfer program?

7 - Judges transferring to other divisions must take the necessarry training (in their own time, between their normal divisional duties) and take some form of assessment (almost a Rookie test) before they are accepted.

8 - Street is survival/judging focussed, whilst other divisions are support and skills based.

Any of this sound right/wrong against canon?

Interesting. Niles moved from head of one unit to head of another, so that doesn't really count, and Judges get bumped to 'lower' divisions of duties due to poor or bad performance.

I wanted to write something about judges who willingly left to transfer amd how they'd be perceived. But I wanted to make sure that Canon wasn't against me on it!

THanks so far!

I'm aware that SJS cream judges from the ranks, but what would the response be if a Judge wanted to move from Tech to Street?

Are there any story examples or references in the Canon?

General / Re: Dredd's gun hand - is it real?
25 October, 2010, 07:02:37 PM
This is all ace advise. I do realise the realities of what everyone has said, it will be a very long queue and I will be stood at the back of it.

Yes I'm having a crack at a sample script submission, I wanted to try Dredd (purely for the joy of it - it has been fun) to try character development and getting the hang of 5/6 pages rather than the 22 plus I've been slaving on so far.

I've scripted out an intro and the first part of a four part cycle (again just to exercise different muscles) so don't go gasping as you calculate the odds of it ever seeing print. That's not the target here.

I have a future shock lined up too and I'll bother the script droids with that as my lead. I've an artist friend (Paul Green, just finished a run on Flash Gordon for Ardden Entertainment) who will draw the Dredd as his attempt at his artistic submission.

We're old enough and ugly enough to have a go at anything. World domination would be nice, but I have a day job... so time is tight!

Don't know much about the Fan-zine scene? Any pointers?

General / Re: Who are Judge Dredd's nemeses???

Big question is.....

Which ones are still alive!!

Dredd tends to puts holes in most of his nemesi (?) something Batman should have done about 60 ears ago!

Hah! Yes I know Dredd is protected territory. Just like turning up at Marvel for your first day expecting to draw Spiderman. You'd probably get a mop and a bucket at Tooth if you tried that one!

The script is not a pitch for an idea, just the usual fan-boy pitch for a job!

No 2000AD previous publish, but you gotta start somewhere and Old Stoney Face has given me a lot of pleasure over the years.

No reason to believe he has had a replacement hand, although many Judges do as a result of the "Doomsday" storyline (2000AD (1141-1164) and Judge Dredd Megazine (vol. 3 No.52-59) ).

Was this the boooby trapped gun story??? The new Lawgiver 2 or something??

This is really helpful!

I'm writing a script submission for 2000ad as an aside whilst a contracted script gets final approval from another Brit comic company.

Wanted to damage Dredd's hand as part of the story, but didn't want a Luke Skywalker robot hand revealed if I couldn't help it!

Cheer Y'all

General / Dredd's gun hand - is it real?
22 October, 2010, 05:19:35 PM
I know Dredd's been injured many times, and there was an ancient Sci-fi special story where he had to complete a hazard course to get back on the road (Kevin O'Neill drew I think) after an injury to his hand.

My question...Has Dredd ever had his gun hand replaced (I know his eyes are replacements)?
