Watch Chasing Amy,Tips.IMHO it's the most coherent of his films.I still think Clerks is great,Mall Rats *is* pants and Dogma has some good stuff, but is too long.

"My Uncle died in a strange way"
"Really?How so?"
"Died of a broken neck"
"That's not wierd"
"Yes it is,he broke trying to suck his own c*ck.Found with his balls resting on his lips"

I'm also considering the big sell...

I was thinking of doing bundles of story runs perhaps,y'know particular writers or artists. How's about landmark issues bunches?Covers by certain artists...

"They didn't see any difference or conflict between art and science."

Well for Leonardo an peeps of his ilk, there was no difference. The development of science or more specifically the scientific method means they have become different disciplines in a day to day way.Working in the arts requires a different approach-on a 'philosophical' level, science deals with investigating the earth, universe and everything for explanations, whereas art is generating a response to earth, universe and everything.

But,theorectical science requires imagination, intuitive thinking within the field and out of the box, which for many would be traditionally thought of as 'arty' responses.

IMHO,through science,it's completely obvious how related *everything* is and as humans, art is our response, our way of dealing with our existence. We need both to progress. And personally speaking,I'd rather see more people studying sciences because it can give a perspective lacking in some other disciplines.

Or something

"wish we could get away from this attitude that education is something to be crammed into your first 20 years or so."

Well said Pete-I've been saying this for years. The perception that you have to do all yer studying sequentially is bullshit,it's trying to keep people in their boxes, limiting options after you're 21.

I'm a freelance scientist(!),currently doing a degree with the OU,who I cannot recommend highly enough.

Plus, most full time students *are* tossers, aren't they?

Of course,I would like the Ozzies to win-I like their style a bit more than the English. But let's hope it's a good game, finals are usually a bit of a let down IMHO.

Yeah and all this 'they only won by Wilkinsons boot, what a load of crap' is just plain unfair.Of *course* he scored the points, that's why he's in the bloody team.Saying that,I hate the way a lot of press/pundit types talk about'What if he got injured?'type stuff as if the English have no depth.IMHO they'll miss Martin Johnson a hell of a lot more....

But,come on Australia!

Using the term "mick" isn't too pc now is it? ;)

Spring,Something Fishy? What happened then? You mean when Ireland *let* the English win just to be nice?

Er,OK,so England are pretty darned unbeatable.Just let me dream a while.Surely you Englishers would like to see France beaten by Ireland??

I'm sorry my eeenglish choms...

England will not win the world cup.I am convinced of this because of the piffling errors and stupidity they displayed in the first half when they came up against an equal side-looked *very* shakey IMHO.

And,of course,Ireland'll probably put them out after beating France.
Heh

"Has anyone ever come across people who ridicule you for your comic passion?"

You're preaching ta the choir here,Big C.

A lady in work, let's call her 'B'.Dicovers I read comics after I arrive in with a bag of 'em after a particularly enjoyable lunchbreak.Shake of head in wonder, smirk of disbelief and amusement.

"You read comics?"
"Yes."
"Are they funny?"
"Yes,at times."
"How are they?"
"Well,if something's funny,it just is."
"Why do you read comics?"
"Because I like them."
"When did you start?"
"When I was a wee lad-2000ad..."
"What's that?"
"Er,it's a comic.Did you ever read comics as a child?"
"No.I read the Beano and Dandy"
!?

New lady starts in work,'E',has a look at me toothy fleece..."You read comics?"
"Why,yes!"
"Have you ever read..."

*Lady 'B' interjects"Oh he only reads those -stupid- culty comics, you wouldn't a heard of them"includes knowing look*

"...Preacher?I read the reprints in the Megazine"
Result!

I give 'B' a copy of Transmetropolitan(gouge away),opned it,first line is "None of you dog fuckers'll take me alive"
'B'-"THERE'S SWEARING IN THIS COMIC!"

Result!

Having heard nowt but good stuff from alot of souls, especially from here,I picked up the first collected of this.

Vague disappointment IMO.Dialogue was stilted in some places, art functional. It felt like there was a lot left out or something.

Saying that good first ish, intriguing threads, but is it worth while long term?
