No modify button, so I'll double post to say I'm really looking forward to the Simping Detective returning with Simon Coleby on art.

Dredd - Good, solid action Dredd with a novel weapon to tackle to boot. Great stuff!

Red Seas - I enjoyed this episode a lot. Maybe it's charming me...

Ichabod Azrael - Best instalment so far if you ask me.

Aquila - Brilliant. Third week in the top thrill spot for me, this is shaping up superbly.

My one quibble - and it is only a quibble - was the line 'spear chucker mumbo-jumbo', which doesn't really work in context; it's only a disparaging term if you're a more technologically advanced civilisation, surely? British Empire carbine rifles against zulu spears, for instance. In 69Ad, I imagine everyone were 'spear chuckers', Romans included, so the insult's meaningless.

Ah, but what the Roman Legions were really good at was marching up to a bunch of barbarians and turning them into chunks of munce with their gladii, once they'd chucked their pila. They may have been using the same principles to kill, maim and conquer as the natives but arguably the tactics of the Roman Foot could be seen as a technological advantage. Maybe. Anyhoo - Aquila give you smush!

Lenny Zero - Great episode, the plot's thickening nicely.

5/5 this week Tharg. Keep it up.

I'll keep an eye out for spares - they don't usually get parted out, but you never know.

Am i the only one to find Aquila's tiny head distracting?

I can't see it from under his loincloth.

Aquila - I see the Iceni have invented the g-string.  Also the strapless furry bra and all-over body waxing.  This is a decently written, very nice looking strip, but all the female flesh on display in the first few pages is distracting me from getting into it, and not in a good way.  Boudicca's outfit has set rather a bad tone on that front, m'afraid.

Heh! See, these things didn't seem as incongruous to me as some of the Flesh stuff, but I suppose to me it's pretty standard 'fantasy' garb so it doesn't seem so out of place (a whole argument in itself perhaps!). Or maybe it's because I enjoy the story more so far? Saying that, I didn't really get why a mucho burned pyschopath was given a tent, drink and a pile of babes to boot.

It was just a joke, Mikey - we were laughing about booting people out and you just got caught up in the joke. Please don't take it personally and come back soon, y'hear?

I know! It made me laugh and I was just messin too, sarcasm just doesn't translate well. I love you all really.

Apart from Jared. He's dead to me.

They're described as 'collectible figurines', so that could mean anything, but it might be the Medicom/Hot Toys type stuff and they'd run you at least £100 a pop brand new and second hand likely much higher.

That means Mike and/or PJ will get first dibs Pete. Do you really want that to happen?

So it's an abuse of power to get on her good side before the old charm offensive, eh? Smart, Carroll. Very smart.

Glad to hear Sue P's into having a Block Name, must be a pretty small club for real peeps in the Prog, who else is in your club Mr Wells?

It seems an opportune time to reveal I have a bit of a crush on ol Sue. To be forever unrequited, for many reasons.

Well, you've ruined Dante despite warnings you fool! I never liked it anyway, but it's an epic tale with some of the finest art seen in a prog at times so punt away at it. Other people seem quite keen on it.

Strontium Dog you can't go wrong with, also Absolam and Zombo. Grey Area had one previous series and is recent enough you could probably track down the back issues easily enough (I might even have them). It's still developing, so I wouldn't say you'd miss much (in a good way) if you don't read the first series before it carries on.

Durham Red...if you're basing it on the recent outing of 'before she was famous' Red, you should get what you need in the SD files I think? I'd also recommend the 'reboot' version Abnett and Harrison did - they went all space opera with it, which I enjoyed at the time. Haven't ever re read it, so don't know if it stands up, but I thought it was an interesting move at the very least.

Great cover this week!

Dredd continued well, but a bit of a bridge episode all told. I think it's
Dolman
too, but briefly considered PJ Maybe, though I reckon Wagner'd be keeping him to himself for a while yet. One thing I'll say is that the creative team are a top mix for Joe, a really good 'Dredd feel' to the strip and Blythe is the MC1 colourist now if you ask me.

Red Seas still hasn't floated me boat and I was a bit eh? about the
Quantum Tortoise
. I don't think the series will ever be for me if I'm honest, there's only been the odd moment I enjoyed.

TGJOICATDHLIHW. It's hooks have found me I'm happy to say, but just not fully as yet.

Aquila was my top thrill again this week. Building well and I'm looking forward to the next one already! And that there Eyrie is creepy as get out - more brilliant work from Gallagher.

Lenny Zero was good too, but I don't know if it's a bit close to being self consciously 'snappy'. It's on the right side of it at the minute, but it might, just might start to get on me wick a bit. But that be Lenny I suppose and it certainly doesn't hang about, plenty of momentum in that strip.

Decent prog there, Tharg.
