Metallic red sounds nice and decadent so i'll go with that.
Lobo, there's a range of transparent paints so i just need to do him in a steel finish and then lay the red down on top

General / How'd you see Torquemada

Hi Folks
Another question for you:
Just got Foundry Minatures Torquemada figure, which is clad in his full pointy armour.
Question is - what colour do you see it?

A shiny brilliant gold?
A rusty, oily steel effect?
A black/red combo a la John Hicklenton in the Tom Frame tribute?
Or something radically different?

Thoughts again would be appreciated

The comic got off to a brilliant start with the artists that they had and i'm suprised they moved off the title so soon.
Guess Mike Dorey must've gone onto Battle or somesuch, Sola i dunno (2000 AD was still a way off i reckon), ditto the Dredger guy.
Who was he by the way? Still around?

And by the summer Hookjaws:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Mangamax/P3020081h.jpg">

A month later Hellman's:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Mangamax/P3020080g.jpg">

Then, in May, only an incredible 2 months later, Dredger looks like this:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Mangamax/P3020079d.jpg">

Books & Comics / Action - rose tinted spectacles
02 March, 2007, 11:57:26 AM
Ok, i was 14 when it came out and i was an avid fan, Saturday couldn't come round fast enough.
My top three were Dredger, Hookjaw and Hellman.
I loved the gritty, nasty plots and the gritty, nasty art. The rest of the issue just didn't appeal half as much.
So that's how i always remember the strips, especially the brilliant art.
Been re-reading my copies and, while the art is still top notch, i'm stunned by how fast it actually went downhill.
Case in point m'lud - from Feb/Mar 1976:

Like the think the above scene is in a pub, next door to the equivilent of Kings Reach Tower called "Dun-Progging" or some such.
Then the doors crash open and a bunch of lairy drunken chavs stagger in looking for trouble.
Heh...

Good innit?
In hindsight, the only thing missing is a Charlie Adlard Bill Savage in the background playing darts.
Couldn't have happened as well without Rufus being the Overseer Droid and cracking the whip - something he did brilliantly again with the Tom Frame piece

Missing from the final montage are an excellent Scarlet Traces Tripod staggering around with a pint in one tentacle and a fag in t'other, and a tipsy Lobster Random by Carl Critchlow cracking nuts with his claws.
Both turned up only just before the auction and i never had time to take a pic - curses!
