Classifieds / Re: Selling Videos
13 August, 2004, 05:53:37 PM
I spent my student years working my way through those Virgin and HMV 5 videos for ?30 offers. I'm now beginning to seriously regret blowing all that money.

I'll be the proud owner of the videos as well. In all I'll have spent a good ?50 or so on Spaced. ?25 per series isn't bad for 3 and a half hours of one of the best sit-coms ever, though.

I don't feel too ripped of as I got the double DVD for under a tenner. As long as the extras arn't just a load of Shaun promo material it aught to be worth a look. Then again, I'd just buy it for the cover... Spaced fans are fanatical enough to splash out on this.

YT-2 - I agree. Anderson has never been better. I thought that she should have been killed off during those late 90s stories in tooth, but the new stuff is far better - it's also the best Judge Death material for ages. It's stories like this that make the Meg worthwhile.

Other Reviews / Re: Cube 2: Hypercube

The original Cube was a clever metaphor for the nature of the universe, making Hypercube just reduces it to a horror movie - or does Hypercube also have some deep subtext?

After re-reading a bit...

None of the non-government masks knew of the identity, with the exceptions of Veidt and the 1st Silk Spectre. The government would obviously keep tabs on the Comedian and know his ID (there's a photo of Blake shaking hands with with the vice president that the cops notice, so the upper echilons were aware of Blake's 'job'). As he was a government operative, they would have the motive to protect him. Once Blake was reported dead the G-men would inform anyone else who needed to know.

As for Hollis, The Comedian could sue, or even the government for the slander of a public hero, but they knew that the truth would come out and that they'd loose both the case and the secret Blake identity. I don't believe that Under the Hood actually mentioned Blake's name, if Hollis even knew it, anyway.

A Zombie Commentary! Inspired! Fried gold indeed.

Website and Forum / Re: Rebellion's website

Was the recent World War Zero game by Rebellion? It got some pretty duff reviews - another average FPS.

DD - I agree, I've always been worried about their lack of a decent website - particularly as it's often the first port of call by PC gamers looking for downloads and patches.

I'll wait and see. Obviously it won't be a loyal adaptation, but I hope they go for more than just cheap laughs.

These guys are talking sense (Now that is a surprise in itself ;)). As well as the danger of walking unprepared into a dodgy situation which you smartly avoided (Si was probably right about the nose stud theory), it is also against all of our inbuilt reflexes to fight when our own safety is not at stake. Blame human genes, not yourself.

It's supposed to be pretty awful so I'd give it a miss.

Both Jedi and A New Hope have been severely bodged by the new CGI treatment, Jedi in particular. However my real reason for not buying them is that I am a completist in true obsessive compulsive fashion. In my mind Star Wars has been ruined by the new films which are an integral part of the saga. As I would not waste money on episodes 1 - 3, why should I bother collecting the others?

Please don't try to understand how my mind works.

I go away for a few months (cos I work, unlike you guys. Having an accessable internet connection at your workplace should immediately nullify your job title to the status of "mindless dosser") and suddenly this place, it... it... it...

LOOKS LIKE A REAL WEBSITE!

It's like the village inn has been taken over by a chain of theme pubs. Now any talk of "knob gags" or "Rogue's Nads" and you'll be served with a large cocktail.

Now that's an idea, 2000AD cocktails...

Okay - if a tooth character were a drink, what drink would they be? I can't think of any right now, so you lot can start.

2000AD is more of a fanzine than a proper comic, isn't it?

Megazine / Re: Meg 220

This has to be the worst Meg in a long time. I agree entirely with lord snooty, here. Damned Ranger felt like purile nonsense with art that, if I had submitted it at a portfolio session, would have been turned away. Black Siddha was appaling, Mill's is just taking the piss here with some of his most lazy writing ever.

Garbage.
