I was a bit suspicous that the extra bumper size Meg page count included the suppliment pages...
The meg's shrunk & they've shrinkwrapped it to The Best Of 2000AD Monthly.

They've taken double the money & stopped your thrill power supply?

Vector 13 nothing!  That's the Dictators work that is!  Tharg, some hotshots needed here methinks.

That was about the time that I stopped reading 2000AD (because my brother stopped buying it)

Ryan Hughes was NOT the man - his abysmal rendition of Sam Slade is enough to have him hung drawn & quartered.

Ed - I admit I had to pay for the McAlmont & Butler gig, but it was well worth it!

Okay - so I was very bitchy about the 2 Towers, but it won't stop me seeing the Return of the King & getting the complete 3 film DVD set when it comes out...

The battle of Helm's Deep is fantastic - there's no doubt about that... also the Ents trashing Orthanc is brill.  The other stuff (the changes in plot) I found disappointing and distracted me from enjoying the whole...

And I DO MEAN spoilers! so if you don't want it SPOILT then STOP READING!!
In the book: The women & children of Rohan hide out in some other town while the men ride to war at Gandalf's suggestion to help the seige at Helm's Deep.
In the film: Theoden flees their city with everyone (men, women & children all) to take refuge in Helm's Deep against Gandalf's warning that it's a bad idea & that Helm's Deep will be a death-trap with no escape.  O and a huge army of Elves turns up to help.  Huh???

Can I say again that the battle scene was brilliant?

WARNING: THIS IS A BITCHY REVIEW

I've read the book, I've seen the movie - were they the same story?  Did the film even have a story?
Visually brilliant (except for the feeling I had that Gollum/Smeagol was a cross between Dobby the House-Elf & Jar-Jar Binks) with brilliant fight / war scenes.
However, for film over three hours long they missed the beginning (they stuck the first chapter at the end of the last film, remember?) and they missed quite a bit of the ending (presumably to make the last film even longer?)
Faramir is made out to be some evil twisted tyrant, rather than the wise & heroic chappie he should be, and kidnaps Frodo & Sam taking them to Gondor where they almost die in a big battle against orcs/nazgul.
Gimli appears to be the butt of all the camp jokes in the film (most unbefitting behaviour for a Dwarf - especially asking Aragorn to toss him!)
The Ents come across as being very hasty people, deciding in their meeting to not help the cause & changing their mind after Merry & Pippin trick them into seeing the damage Saruman has done to the forrest.
When Theoden's councillor Wormtongue appeared on the screen he looks so "Evil" it's funny, esp. with the evil music (I was expecting a BOO HISS! sign to be held up for him!)
There were other major plot errors that I can't be bothered to detail here, suffice to say that I didn't really enjoy the film much... which is a shame because I really liked the first one & still have high hopes for the third.
Last gripe: Aerwin (sp?) (Liv Tyler) is in this film more than she was in the last one.

Overall: Nice big battle scenes, but I much preferred watching McAlmont & Butler who I saw playing a gig next door to the cinema just before hand.

The picture did post!
Strange things go on here - some people can't see all the pictures
I note that ukdane can never see pictures I post, even when other boarders can!

Great picture btw - PJ should be the Judge.

However... if the board was used by a third of all 2K readers - we'd never be able to read all the messages or get to *know* the other boarders...
I suspect there is a natural maximum of how big the group can get - if its getting crowded some of the casuals may not be bothered to keep up with it & drop out reducing the number once more...

This is a pretty close group, we all (well, most of us most of the time) get on pretty well & know each others personalities (& defects).  If it got too crowded I think we'd lose that.

Having said that, I'm always cheered to see newbies to the site...

I also got it from the back of boarders comments - a blindingly brilliant read & loads of "DVD extras" at the back - inc. cover artwork & even a text story about Quartermain by Moore (which I haven't got round to reading yet - but it's a very nice touch!)

Wake - seeing as this isn't actually your proper job I do hope they do pay you for it!
If they don't I'm sure we can force Rebellion to get you on the payroll.  You deserve a bloody full wage for this site, it's as much a part of 2000AD for us all as the comic is.

Scripts should be in the Tharg's Script Test section.
