General / Are PSI Judges mutants?
14 July, 2008, 11:50:08 AM
Occured to me over the weekend, after one strip declared a highly mutated baby with massive PSI powers a mutant.

Where do you draw the line?

First up - David Morrisey is in it and he's rumoured to be the new Doctor.

Doubt this as filming has started and the two were being filmed acting together.

Next - Miranda Richardson is in it and she's playing Mary Shelley

Knowing from the trailer that Cybermen are in it this could be true - Frankenstein and all that.

Next - It's the start of a year long series of 6 one off episodes, each two hours long and featuring a story arc that reaches from Christmas 2008 to Christmas 2009

Sounds great!

Anyone else heard anymore?

Website and Forum / This Forum

Refering to the recent prog review thread, this has just appeared from Matt:

"OK, that's enough. You don't like a story, fine, but comments such as Philt's are utterly disrespectful to the professional creators involved. If you can't be constructive, or at least polite, in your criticisms, then go off to some other corner of the internet and be needlessly rude and confrontational. But it will no longer be tolerated on this site.

I've had more than one creator contacting me recently about comments made on this messageboard, and frankly this forum has been on thin ice for a while. It isn't doing the site, 2000 AD or Rebellion any favours, and unless I start seeing some moderation in language used then the messageboard will be pulled altogether.

A little decorum, please, and a little more thought before posting ill-considered and disrespectful remarks."

I like this Forum. The thought that it has been on 'thin ice for a while' makes me saddened. I think from now on we all ought to just be aware of our attitudes whilst on here. I'm probably as guilty as the rest in some respects but I think we are all old enough and wise enough to moderate ourselves, I don't want the forum to be pulled I've been a 2000ad fan since I was seven, this board is a great way for us all to communicate and exchange ideas.

On the other foot I think that there is a certain aspect to how far can we go, there are guidelines and making defamatory comments against people and personal attacks is one of the no-no's - the board is a critique and does review the latest publications. Matt's been approached by some creators recently and I know from some of the threads they in turn have retaliated to remarks made against them, we are entitled to an opinion I think we have to be careful on how we phrase it.

Off Topic / Daffodils are poisonous!!!
20 May, 2008, 02:17:16 PM
Just had a phone call from Mrs Larf who is a nursery teacher. Two little sprogs decided to help themselves to daffodil leaves at school today and ended up being rushed to hospital because the leaves are poisonous!

Never knew this, but expect these to now be removed from all schools across the UK :-(

Books & Comics / Books that have inspired you
08 May, 2008, 10:59:05 AM
I'm halfway through reading David Gemmell's Fall of Kings, the final book and his final book in the Troy Trilogy. Unfortunately David died a couple of years back. He is my favourite author, and Legend was the first book I really loved and I've read it over half a dozen times in my life. Ironically the book is about a siege and a hero coming out of retirement one last time. Fall of Kings is building up to the siege of Troy and is ironic that David's first and last stories should be about sieges.

David Gemmell inspires me, he discusses the greyness of good and evil and the fact that often bad people are only bad through circumstance or from the perception of others and good people are often not what they are perceived to be. He is a great writer and I will sorely miss his writing. I can honestly say that his work has helped support me through my life, sometimes I often would think what would X do in this situation and apply it to my issues. David's stories are about honour, values and support, they are about doing the right thing - even if the right thing is not necessarily going to be the best outcome for you but a great help for others...

Are there any books that anyone on here has found life changing and inspirational throughout their own life?

A controvertial film from the US supporting Creationist Theory and how it's being 'oppressed' in the US - unbelievable that fools like this can get away with teaching falsehoods whilst loosely cavorting under the banner of free speech.

04 April, 2008, 02:53:39 PM
Look everyone he's NOT a man! He was born a woman, had a sex change, decided to keep her lady bits and is now pregnant. End of. It's NOT a man having a bloody baby, it's a friggin woman - n'er mind how PC you want to be and how you look at it, he/she is a woman!

Now get back to bloody work and stop piss arsing around saying it's a bloody miracle, 'cos it's not.

Rant over!
