Just interested to know how much illustration is still done old skool, how much mixed media bit of on-screen, pencils scanned in and how much is completely digital i.e. tablet and paint, pshop etc.

Main reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of getting a tablet, what do you think I should get, what's the cost, how much of a transition is it from paper etc. etc. and is it worth the move?

Also Quark v InDesign, I'm upgrading all the software from OS 9 to X and the Adobe packages.

Appreciate any help.

Cheers

Whilst looking for something unrelated I found this rather amusing image.

Soooooo, I thought it might be fun if we all tried to find similar kinds of fan based images just for a laugh...http://tk861.com/rogue/tk369_02.jpg">

General / Selling Dredd to the States
03 December, 2004, 01:42:05 PM
I think that from the points of view being banded around on the 'Judgement Day' thread, we all feel that Judgement Day was not the correct story to sell Dredd to the US.

So the brief is: You've launched Dredd into the US with the DC/Reb. tie in, Dredd and Bats, and Judgement Day - but it seems it's not enough. What do you do next? Which titles do you re-print that give Dredd in a good light, circumnavigate the bad press on Judgement Day (albeit only one review on a shitty US site, but what was said was mostly true), and gives the reader a great insight into Dredd's world?

...crap.

For instance: Curt Kobain never killed himself, he's actually an FBI agent working under cover to dis grunge music which was considered far too dirty for the good old US of A. He now lives with his real wife, Kitty, in Wisconsin, has left the agency and runs a tackle shop near a lake. Courtney Love has no idea, but her daughter is not his but a combination of various musicians from the Seattle grunge scene, including Pearl jam, Sound Garden, Alice in Chains and Lou Reed who was just passing by when she was doing her 'Courtney does Grunge' movie to pay for lots of drugs. Her daughter is now being watched by the NSA because of all the talent she has in her genes she could be the first female president of the USA, and they wouldn't want that 'cos her mom once wore ripped jeans. Her school actively discourages her using musical instruments just in case...

...but no one really takes any notice.

OK, so what/who/where etc. do you think is highly UNDERATED and deserves far more attention and respect than it actually gets...

I'm saying this because I came out of a meeting today with three EX 2000AD readers, and they had the last 20 or so progs in their sweaty mitts really excited about what a great comic it was blah, di blah and they'll start reading it again.

Sorry, but someone had to bite the tasty maggot that Gordon plopped into the Meg.

I have a complaint about Mr Rennies column -

"The fact that artists earn more money and get all the attention and hot chicks..."

 - since when?

The nearest I've been to a hot chick recently is a KFC Zinger and that cost me ?3.59, half a days wages.

All the rest I completely agree with, within reason i.e. please don't tar us all with the same brush but maybe use a 00 sable occassionally rather than one you would wash a canvas with.

I would love to know what artists think of writers though...

OK after reading the thread about Marvel suing City of Heroes, boo hiss! and watching Mystrey Men on the TV last night. I thought it would be entertaining for us to create our own heroes...

So what is the super hero name, what does your costume look like, what is your super power, do you have a sidekick and who is your arch enemy? etc. etc.

Go for it super friends...

General / GAME: 2000AD character association
08 November, 2004, 11:46:40 PM
OK, I'm bored.

So hows about a game of association...

example: I write: Johnny Alpha, the next boarder writes Wulf Sternhammer, next one types Gronk etc. etc. words cannot be repeated and must be 2000ad CHARACTER related i.e. no boarder names or ambiguous links, but you can use equipment, locations etc. etc. (if this was in a pub I'd hope we'd be all pissed as farts by 7.00). Exception will be taken for repeating names if boarders post same word at the same time.

I will kick it off with: STUBB GUN
