Off Topic / Taken - withdrawl syndrome
13 February, 2003, 07:05:11 AM
Taken. What's everyone reckon to it then... I don't think it's half bad if not a bit rushed... but then again I thought Signs was the best film of all time and everyone I've spoken too didne' like it much... superb ending to the last episode, but I'm suffering (say in Yoda voice) from withdrawl due to f'in snooker and BBC Three (which is BBC Choice with a new name!)

Also is it me or is there some alien type fever going on at the moment, what with Taken, Signs and Dreamcatcher due out soon are the yanks preparing us for the invasion or is it some plot to hide a darker truth, like Michael Jackson really is like he is and it's all not true...??

Can I offer an icon design service? Tell me what you want and I may be able to deliver subject to certain restrictions or whatever, adding your name to my convention beer list...

On another note, any one ever bought SFX magazine and blushed when they cover up the bottom of the F to make it look like SEX.

It's hard being a geek...

society is fuelled by materialism
materialism is a competitive substitute for what we no longer have and that's self worth, pride and community.
Community was what newspapers once created, this kept us informed and feeling a part of something no mind how small we felt
we had a voice...
nowadays we have so many different forms of media other than newspapers and everyone competes by providing a different angle n'er mind sometimes how different and provoking...
why do they compete? Because they are fuelled by money, politics, materialism, jealousy you name it it's there and sod anything or anyone else.
The best thing is 'to read all the newspapers..' and then make up your own mind, s'true...

Anderson Inflatable?
nikolai Dante sword with rubber hand attachment - make your hand look like it's symbiotically welded to a weapons crest - comes with free tattoo
Rogue Trooper edible blue body paint
Chopper Skateboard
Fatty SpaceHopper
Tickle-Me-Gronk - it passes out for days after too much use
Book of Grud - a rewrite of the bible with 2000ad characters rather than the set normal crew, Tharg of course would be Grud
Pogo Rogue - A Pogo stick that makes authentic explosions and noises everytime it hits the ground and has flashing lights and buttons for Bagman, Gunner and Top
2000AD sweets - The MacNulty Nutty chew (Middenface shaped Ferrero rocher), Skizz Swizel yoghurt, Strontium Log - A glow in the dark lemon chew covered in rich milk chocolate, etc. etc.
Cocktails would be good - Kiss My Axe - Irish Whiskey and Mead, Drokk, Borag Thung etc. etc.

Remember this from the Eagle comic back in the 80's. A young boy gets zapped into his Commodore 64 and has to fight through a series of US Gold games in order to rescue his friend who had lost and been swallowed up by the computer. Blatant product placement a la Havok, Desert Strike etc. but good fun if you were 12.

Any chance of rebellion doing this... chortle.

Prog / Re: Annuals - A dumb idea?...........

S'right Karne, kids have more violence, sex, nudity, vulgarity and mindless, senseless story filling crap thrown at them all the time.

Why shouldn't we give kids something to think about, a countermeasure against all the horrid things that happen and are thrown at them these days. I'm not getting on a high horse and sounding off, 'cos 2000ad has always done the violence bit and it's fun and in the right context can be meaningful if viewed in that way - but there have been some very well written and thought provoking strips that shine like diamonds amongst the guts.

I don't mean go all PC but let's have some moralistic tales...
