>Did you email Flinty features and did he tell you if his art is originally in colour or not?

I did indeed, but you may have to be patient for your answer, when it comes in I'll post it.

>I got a mad theory it's coloured by Chris Blythe and then turned into black and white.

Its mad alright,

>Incidently Logan, you weren't just p*ssed off because you know Henry Flint and someone was slagging him off were you?  I think the worst that someone said so far was 'confusing'.

I personally think Henry Flint is one of the best artists not only working on 2000 at the moment but one of its best artists ever. Yes I know Henry, and will forever be in his debt for doing the first two episodes of Harry Heston but Henrys a big boy and if someone doesn't like his artwork then I'm sure he could defend himself and wouldn't need me to do it.

My 'Moan, Moan, Moan' post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular but there seems to be a culture here on the message board of just saying what people don't like or how things should be done differently. In general these points aren't put across in a way that allows the topic to be discussed and for various points of view to appear. They just go, So & so is crap, don't like the story/art and they shouldn't be allowed to do this crap and I'm not going to buy the comic if this crap continues, or something along those lines.

It's no great secret that along with my dislike of Sinister/Dexter I don't like the artwork of Siku, nice chap that he is I just don't like his artwork. Now both Sinister/Dexter and Siku still appear in 2000 but instead of posting my dislikes week after week or whenever they appear I make my point known, allow for other people to add their comments if they wish and then generally move on to other things. At the moment we get a new story or artist and after one episode we get people saying I don't like this. Episode two appears and people post I don't like this, episode 3 appears, I think you get my drift. Comment on each episode or appearance but add something new to argument or wait until the story is complete and comment on it as a whole, but to see the same comments week after week gets boring. That?s why I believe that most people on the 2000AD newsgroup or on any other forum know I don't like Sin/Dex and Siku but unless I've something new to add to my reasons I just leave those topics well alone and don't keep treading over old ground.

My personal feelings on Shakara, well its going to come as no surprise that I like the artwork and as for the story. I've so far enjoyed each individual episode but as yet there isn't any obvious link between them, just Shakara turning up and saying his cathphrase. Each episode has entertained me, which is all anyone can ask of a story, and I hold out judgement on the series as a whole until the series ends.

Think back to previous stories such as Nemesis, Halo Jones and I'm sure people can think of others, but would those stories, if they were appearing today, be getting slagged off, or adverse criticism on such forums as this. One of the things about the internet is the fact that once a story appears within minutes people can be discussing it and trying to work out what going to happen or what's coming next. If it wasn't so easy would you have already written a letter to the Nerve Centre with your feelings for a particular story or would you wait to see how it develops or ends before making your comments and opinions known.

To me it seems easier these days to criticise something than to praise it and have we lost the patience to allow something to grow before we want to see it removed. I'm not saying that such stories as Shakara are the best to appear or that I would wish to see a second series but I'm willing to see how things develop before I get the knives out. Of course I can't promise that I wouldn't be the first to have ago if a Sin/Dex story by Siku was to appear next week but I like to think I would try to give some solid reasons for my negative comments.

W. R. Logan.

I must be feeling in a good mood, I'll ask him for you and post his reply.

Moan, Moan, Moan, is that all this message board is good for, I don't like this, and so and so is crap. Jesus H Christ is there nothing else to talk about or are we just going to see the usual vocal minority slagging off the same thing, post after post, week after week? If you don't like something you have a right to say so, after all its your ?1.40 you've just spent but can we at least give reasons why, and see if a thread or discussion can come out of it.
The story you hate, may be really popular with loads of others or the story you hate could be equally reviled by loads of people, but the same people keep knocking the same stories and spouting off the same crap, at least lets have different reasons and arguments for it.
Personally I can't stand Sinister/Dexter, never have and never will, to me it?s the biggest pile of arse ever printed, but apparently it's one of 2000's most favourite strips, go figure. Somebody out there likes it but it sure as hell ain't me, and to spout off my dislike for Dowlodes duo week after week would soon become boring as hell. For every story you like there will be someone who dislikes it, fact of life. If you dislike something then try and make some point so that this message board can turn into a place of discussion, instead of somewhere where short posts appear and not many great threads are generated or a place for Scojo to talk about, movie scripts and his cat.

Remember after all its only a bloody comic.

Shakara, absolutely love it. Henry Flint is a god and his artwork is too die for. Henry would be at the top of my fave artists list. Have admired his work since his earliest Rogue Trooper artwork through his Harry Heston work and his Dredd is the best of the recent new boys.

The trouble with the message board is that it gives a voice the the minority whilst ignoring the majority.

Henry rules!!!!!!

>Too old?!  How old is Dredd in the comic?

Are you sitting comfortably?

Dredd was cloned in 2066 and his age accelerated to 5 years of age. The date presently in Mega-City 1 is 2124. Therefore Dredd has been alive for 58 years but his age is 63. Take into account his full body rejuve job after his meeting with the Sisters of death in The Dead Man and your guess is as good as mine as to what is bodies age may be.

The trouble with Dredd's timeline advancing in time with ours is that Dredd's world is always 122 years ahead of our own. This ides may have seemed like a good one when 2000 first started and the average life expectancy of the a boys comic was measured in just a few years at most, but now 2000 is about to reach its 25th anniversary, well that good idea is turning into a bad one.

John Wagner isn't a great fan of continuity and as far as I'm aware Dredd will just continue to age and no big deal will be made of it, but what do I know.

Look at Batman, do people go on about how old he should be by now considering the length of time he's been going? I like some continuity but as for Dredd's age, who gives a Drokk.

Some people read the comic, some people write and draw the comic, and even fewer sit in pubs and ply the writers and artists with alcohol and find out the inside stories. My guess is that Milo has plied people with alcohol and now knows some gossip that he can tease people on the message board with.

Perhaps Tharg should find generous 2000AD fans who would let new fans read their Progs.
