21st Century A-Team?

Thats exactly what its supposed to be. But more gritty and realistic. The CIA are the bad guys!

Diggle isn't afraid of criticising "american" attitutes. This just might be one of the most subversive US comics for ages.

Orlok dead. Just like that. What?!? Orlok had become a much more symathetic character during his travels. Anderson seemed to like him. The prologue to his return to earth also painted him as an honorable man (savind the little aliens - awww!). Then he kidnaps Dredd for trial in a kangaroo court, but dredd gets away destroying the floating city (and I assume killing countless civilians) in the process, further unhinging Orlok who seeks revenge, kills a pile of old Megacity citizens, gets captured, put on trial in similar kangaroo court and then ultimately killed.

Was it a satire on the warmongering and use of WMD's by the USA (its okay for us to do it cos we're the good guys!). I don't get it. The megacity judges were just as bloody minded as the russians. The two cities trapped in a cycle of violence each seeking revenge for the last misdamenour.

In the end orlok was a one dimensional mad as a brush character, and Dredd his old unforgiving self.

I hope Wagner does have something up his sleeve for orlok - because as an ending 'the trial of orlok' seemed - well - pointless.

Holy moly!

What convictions are they then.

A conviction to protect America against terrorism..but hang on mo, that's made up....lets try a conviction to remove weapons of mass destruction....no wait that ain't working there doesn't seem to be any...how about a conviction to reign in a brutal regime (but not in Israel or Saudi Arabia – oops!)...ok ok lets try a conviction to help the Iraqi population. Call it operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Yeah! Truth justice and the American way.

George said him self they have absolutely no interest in Iraq apart from to help the people so it must be true. So what if some of them are shocked and awed and killed.

If I were to hide behind anything it would be the majority of the worlds peoples that realise the yank so called convictions are bobbins.

You say snide childish remarks , I say displaying my dismay, contempt and anger. Lets call the whole thing off.

Dubbya was referring to Iraqi civilians, and the fact that their deaths would be inevitable in the pursuit of the USA's just and noble causes.

Dubbya meant Iraqi civilians, with their deaths being 'inevitable'. I beleive they prefer the term collareral damage.

President Bush advises that the US public prepare them selves for an extended conflict with civilian casualties.

So they're buying extra potato chips and 2 litre bottles of Pepsi to watch it on the telly.

*uck 'em.

Didn't involve me per say, this proud moment belongs to my brother.

My bro's lying in his scratch after a night on the town, and my Cousin, who regularly camped out on my bro's floor when his family visited every other weekend or so, had passed out in the usual manner.

Later in the night however said Cuz decided to work up a sneaky midnight hand shandy.

Poor bro woke up to some dubios huffing and puffing, and in dawning horror shouted 'will you just feckin quit it" - just as Cuz hit the vinegar strokes.

Needless to say there are some things that shouldn't be kept in the family.

Im sure the flowers were put using a photo shop tool called "tubes" not that this clarifies matters.

Photoshop can do all kinds of visual tricks, including making images sharper or blurring then (the often use focus effect).

But it'ts not exactly easy.

Clints methods must be painstaking. What I'd really like to know is if he gets more for his
labour intensive pages than an artist who just slaps inks over pencils and colour blocks the gaps.

Media Bias?

British Intelligence Document turns out to be hack job copied from an article on a website and some yanks graduate thesis. Not only that the info is 12 years out of date, detailing Iraq during their invasion of kuwait.

Any news of this in the Sun? (To my shame I had a look at my workmates copy). Nope.

Instead they spin Blairs whipping by Paxman to make it sound like Tony put a tree huggin jeremy in his place. Oh the humanity!

Is the sun a rag. Oh yes. But its readership is valued by the government, both tony and Mrs T made big efforts to snuggle up with editorial staff in the run ups to elections.

Jeez.

Longmanshort made a good point.

Newspapers may not be biased themselves, but by reporting the comments of those who are biased they appear to be.

John Pilger (An award winning investigative Journalist) has strong opinions on this subject (http://pilger.carlton.com/media/guardian). His basic case is than when journalists simply quote others without attempting to analyse the reality of the statements and whatever agenda the interviwee may have or they produce propoganda.

They say that history is written by the victor.
This is never more true than in the media age.
2 minute soundbytes , populist reporting, corporate self censorship, editorial agendas and barefaced propoganda mean that the full truths are often hard to find.

Check out the following reports for a glaring example.

http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/03/02/02_Blix.html
http://www.truthout.org/docs_02/020203B.blx.nothing.htm

This has to bring the reliability and morality of the main stream news industry into doubt.
