General / Re: An annual mystery.

The question of the value of Alan Moore's signature is one I am attempting to answer at present on eBay. And before anyone says anything, this is NOT a plug for the auction (although any bids would be most welcome!!) I've got the first issue of "Violator" from Image on sale signed by Alan Moore on auction right now. Alan Moore did a signing at Magic Labyrinth in Leicester for the release of the Violator miniseries and being the young entrepeneur I bought a couple of copies thinking I could sell them at a later date. However, this auction has had to be relisted as nobody showed an interest despite it originally being viewed by over 50 people.

It's probably the comic itself which has very little value in the current market. However you would have thought a VF comic signed by a God of the comic world with a limited edition print would be of some interest to someone, especially as the price starts at ?5 and the "buy it now" is only a tenner!

If nobody buys it this time I'm going to put it up on American eBay, on the basis that they'll buy anything!!!

My prog was late last week and was creased to boot. There was a "Please do not bend" stamped on the envelope for one week a few weeks back and then nothing since. What does it take to get the progs to us in good condition, considering the loyalty we show in subscribing?

"As I recall theres fuck all in Reading apart from an industrial estate full of grumpy IT contractors."

Imagine how disappointed I was to find that there is no branch of "Otis" elevators in Reading...it is an urban legend! I was told that the company switchboard had to say "Good afternoon, Otis Reading. How can I help."

However, I was more than pleased to find that there is a branch of "Siemens" telecommunications in Staines!

Prog / Nice touch in Rogue Trooper
24 July, 2002, 03:43:58 AM
Nice to see the original Rogue Trooper back in action. Nice touch in the final panel where Rogue is standing in front of his vehicle with "Thank God it's not Friday" written on the track guard. I for one say "Amen!" to the end of Friday, I never did get my head around the continuity problems and felt it was just being spun out too damn long.

Also, I think Staz Johnson really caught the feel of the early episodes of Rogue and there's more than a touch of Dave Gibbons in his panels. Makes me feel warm inside!

I've just read his eBay feedback and you've annihilated it with 23 negative feedbacks. You certainly got your point across!

General / Freebie miniatures
20 July, 2002, 05:09:15 PM
Imagine how pleased I was to recieve a parcel this morning...especially when I hadn't expected one! It seems a company from Nottingham is sending out freebie 2000AD miniatures to all subscribers, and they're very good. The box included Judge Dredd, Mean Machine, Johnny Alpha and what looks like Slaine, although I can't tell for sure as I haven't opened the box! They plan "to cover the whole breadth of characters from the history of 2000AD past and present".

I can't say I'm actually into these little figures but I'm impressed by the apparent quality and I think they look better than the 2000AD Citadel miniatures. Anybody else get their freebie through today?

Try checking the Original comic art section at eBay, they've got some pieces up at present and the E-Mail address will be there as I think they have an E-shop at eBay. If I remember later I'll have a look.

That bit in The Dead Man where he picks up his old Judge badge and it dawns on him exactly who he is. Quite a stunning moment. Also, the scene where he crawls into Mega City Two with bits of robots at his heels at the end of The Cursed Earth always fills me with nostalgia.
