Dredd Sorry SBT, but I absolutely love this.I rate this higher than any other previous Dredd epic, which is the best compliment you can possibly give.It may be dense but it's been totally absorbing ,and having no idea how this will all end up has given it that extra edge.

It's a good job Dredd is so good because the rest is pretty weak.

Zilk  Just pleased it's finished
FleshPoor consistently -it's the characters they simply don't work
Terror TalesNice art, but the story, was there one?
Anderson Been wasted for a while now sadly interms of quality stories.

Still, as I say Dredd trumps all -so I'm happy.

Greg Staples said this on his facebook:

I love the new design, it's really grown on me. He's obviously wearing some kind of riot gear covering his leathers. I'm hearing good things from the inside and believe me after the Stallone one they wouldn't go easy on it.I think it will feel very '2000ad'.

|That is a great quote! If it 'feels' even close to 2000ad we'll be very happy.

Pop Quiz Joe Soap -is the video interview with one of the producers the same producer who gave the quote at Cannes?

It is more likely created by the Hollywood Reporter for the cover of their magazine. The whole image is photoshopped to fuck.

Yes, but why did they need to do that? Why weren't they handed something better by the PR dept (if one exists), and given a top notch image to use, preferably something new?Not seen any official promo material whatsoever and this is Cannes!(Apologies Joe Soap for doubting you on the screening by the way).Surely an official poster should have been done by now for events like this or at least a movie board.

Prog / Re: Day Of Chaos finale
17 May, 2012, 10:57:15 AM
The whole Day of Chaos epic was originally slated to happen in the midst of an election. The mayoral election seemed the obvious answer but I'm begining to think that the actual election will be something entirely different.

Given the scale of the disaster I think the election maybe centred on one of two options
i) Giving the citizens the decision to wipe out certain areas of the Meg itself (maybe everyone outside the new safe zones) to end the contagion. The judges cannot make this decision alone as it is too momentous-they would forever lose their mandate to rule -this way the citizens are partnered right back with them.

ii)Reforming the United States.A very very long-shot BUT seeing the American flag in the background to the first Day of Chaos teaser made me think it is possible. If vast swathes of the population desert both Texas City and Mega City to escape the chaos bug ,which seems inevitable, and both cities resources are severely drained and  with their citiznery scattered to the four winds -it would make a certain kind of sense. It would also be 'a whole new ball game' as Wagner put it.

Just a thought.

Dredd is being screened at Cannes:

There are still plenty of 3D titles cramming the halls of Cannes' Marche du Film. The Weinstein Company has Escape from Planet Earth, a 3D animation film featuring the voice talent of Jessica Alba and Brendan Frasier, as well as the horror parody Piranha 3DD; IM Global has Dredd, its 3D reboot of the sci-fi franchise with Karl Urban reprising the role of the vengeful titular judge

Don't think this is right.Dredd is not being screened at Cannes 2012 as far as I can tell. There is no listing for them being screened-they may have a prescence there but if they do I can't find it   :|

WOW WOW WOW

Dredd Is just utterly utterly fantastic, can't wait to read it every week, for months now such has been the consistently high standard. It knocks every previous Dredd epic out of the park.We are already in the 'save who you can stage' and it's still the EVE of destruction! With further reports from around the world of the chaos bug spreading, it looks like the landscape is changing forever far beyond just the city limits.Bit worried now as to what will be left and who will be left standing. The artwork as ever is sublime -and kudos to you Pete Wells.

The rest of the Prog isn't really hitting the mark for me -don't even read Zilk or Flesh anymore and Anderson hasn't been given a strong story for what seems like an age (it's also  an anachronism that she hasn't featured at all when the dark judges have returned and does jar a little -hopefully that will change) BUT I really don't mind too much as Dredd just blows me away.

Yup indeed, that is why I said it.

Thread is down to discussing similarities between publicity shots & early production stills.

Who knew there was another step beyond that. :o

General / Re: Questions for Molch-R
04 May, 2012, 09:02:43 AM
If answers to these questions are already known ,let me know

1 -Why did the ABC Warriors animated series fizzle out?
2- Any plans for a Stontium Dog PS or X-Box Game (which would be cool )?
3-Has anyone bought the film rights for Nikolia Dante?
4-How is 2000ad promoted to the student community which is very large and  would be a very receptive group to recruits new readers?
5-Are speculative film scripts for 2000ad characters ever sent out to test/gauge  interest?
6-Blackpool is perhaps a deeply under-rated venue and resort. We have until in recent years held big SFX conventions which were attended by the entire cast of Babylon 5, Deep Space 9, Voyager ,most of Star Trek Next Gen amongst many others. If 2000AD Creators were to visit our shores they would no doubt have a great time. The fact that I live nearby has no bearing naturally on this question whatsoever  ;)

That "really looking forward to seeing what other writers do with what I've left them" bit does sound as though this epic is intended as Wagner's Swansong on Dredd, the thought of which makes me cry like a big girlie girl.

Fargoville seemed like a nice enough town, and Joe's showed a new interest in family of late. Everything that's wrong with the Justice System (seeing adherence to The Law as an end in itself), that Fargo compelled Dredd to address, was present (in microcosm) in the town that bears his (family) name and wears his face.

If someone as inured to personal development as Dredd takes Michael Jackson's trite advice, and decides that the only way to change the world is to change himself, relocating to a town where every day involves taking a long, unflattering look in the mirror is as good a place to start as any.

It'll take a new administration with a democratic mandate from the citizens to restore order to the streets of MC1. That'd be an onerous task for a man of Dredd's age to adapt to, and he's so closely identified with the ancien régime he might feel he'd be more hinderance than help, but all Dredd's ancestral home town needed was a decent Sheriff ...

Mmmm interesting.

Dredds last line was 'The Dark Judges are loose!'.Wagner could throw us a curveball here with Dredd recoiling
'BOLLOCKS to this I'm off!' -Day of Chaos on and off the page follows...
