It was a terrible time sat by messenger waiting for the heroic victory, or the equally heroic defeat. I can still remember the message as if it were yesterday :'( :'( :'( :'(
Still, he was victorious many times with the B&W Lawmaster set

He was, cracked rib and all, and godlike he was in his triumph! All hail the glory of BLACKMOCCO!

That Slayer show has a lot to answer for...

I think all those very valid criticisms resulted in me enjoying the film a lot less than you blackmocco.

And yes, Krall's motivation failed to ring true or make much sense either and was rather too reminiscent of Khan's in Into Darkness.

I still prefered it to the pointless rehash of Into Darkness.

Once again, Urban was the best thing in these reboots.

Yeah, the only way was up after the last one. Perhaps going in with the lowest of expectations helped me get through this one. I'm not pretending it's the greatest. I'm in no hurry to see it again but it at least felt like a real sequel to the 09 one and it entertained me enough for the two hours, despite some glaring problems.

I got there Friday morning to try nab one after pathetic and embarrassing pleas from the likes of Burdis and Wells and had missed the final two by about ten minutes. Some Squaxx may well have nabbed them but knowing SDCC, it's probably just a bunch of opportunists who snatch up piles of every exclusive item to sell later on eBay. I even offered to buy the display one but to no avail. Looks great though. Prefer the color scheme to the 1/6 scale one I currently own.

Well, I'm horrified to report I mostly enjoyed it. It has no brain, relies on action set-pieces when it gets itself into trouble and I have to confess, the villain made no sense to me in any way, shape or form. Didn't understand anything about what he was trying to do, why he wanted to do it or why he looked the way he did. Anyone want to help me out here, much appreciated.

In saying all that, it's got some heart. It gets the Kirk/Spock/Bones trifecta just right, even if this Kirk is a whiny little fucker compared to Shatner's. Jaylah is a great addition, I thought. The movie looks great. There's some great real pulpy science fiction imagery which I loved and this might be the first of the Abramsverse movies where I finally started to really appreciate the new Enterprise design. I think Lin has a better grasp on which angles to make it look good.

Yeah, the motorbike is there, although a little less jarring once the context is explained. Not as unforgivable as the use of Sabotage, yet fucking again. This time in completely ludicrous fashion. I guess no-one creates music in the 23rd century.

All in all, I enjoyed it, with the caveat that it's big, loud and dumb but it gets more right than wrong in terms of a Star Trek movie. Cast are great, particularly our boy Karl who finally gets plenty to do in this one.

It looks like McMahon Satanus.  That's a win in my book. Think they've done well with the joints, and with those rubber type skins to hide the joints there are all kinds of long term issues.

Don't think they need to add a rubber layer. Wouldn't want that either. Just think the sculpt and texture could be refined a little?

Think Satanus is meant to be 1/12, isn't it? Those are much better pics than I've seen so far and he's growing more and more on me (mind if I share?) The thing is, Satanus is a view of a Dino noone sees anymore and it looks anachronistic - this'll be a problem depending on the price.

And yeah blackmocco, I imagine it's a proto and I agree it's the visible articulation spoils it slightly. They've released a figure with a covered body already and it looks really well (Lasstranaut if you're interested - fairly iconic Ashley Wood totem).

Agh. Sorry. Yes, 1/12 was what I meant. Blame SDCC fatigue. However, I suspect he's possibly 1/16...? He's not big enough to be in scale with the likes of the 1/12 Death figure I'm looking at on my desk. Probably more realistic in terms of an actual real-life bull tyrannosaurus but in the comic he's pretty immense. You won't be dangling a 1/12 Judge Jack from his teeth and getting the same result as the comic, let's put it that way.

The joints are just gonna be what they are, I think. It's 3A, it's the look they go for and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The joints are the reason I didn't go for the Robo Hunter.

I'd love to see the skin a little more refined, if we're going to nitpick. They're on the right track with what they've got going, but be nice if they could go a step further and push the details a bit. It's a little loose right now.

Another pic from the con borrowed from zzzzz on the 3A forum.

My pic, I might add! Ha!

Here's some more Satanus...

I'm a bit hit-and-miss with 3A. Loved the initial 1/6 Ro-Jaws and Mongrol but felt like the Dark Judges were a bit rough and I feared the same for Satanus when I saw the initial pics but in the F-L-E-S-H (see wot I did there?), it looks pretty great.

A little unclear about the scale. Seems a little too small to match the 1/6 scale line of figures. I'd have said 1/9 maybe but he's a big boy for sure. About the same mass as the 1/6 Mongrol.

But that Dredd...? It's absolutely beautiful. Best thing they've done so far, hands down. A must have.

"This is an opportunity for artists to get their work professionally printed and distributed, and to add what should be an eye-catching piece to their portfolio."

Ah, the magic words.

Biased perhaps, seeing as I've got something in it, but latest Zarjaz is excellent. Well worth the three quid.

I'm an idiot. £4.50. Not £3.00. I'll get my coat.

Dunno how I feel about Nemesis. I've been rereading it lately, and while the mid-later stuff is a lot better than I remembered, it's also very much done.

Yeah but Nemesis. And O'Neill. Let's go.

In the podcast interview with Bryan Fuller that Blackmocco links to, Fuller spends a great deal of it shitting all over CBS and mocking them for interfering with shows and ruining even the most promising of material.  He doesn't even explain this at first, he just mentions the idea of making a show at the network in passing and the audience begins tittering at the notion.

Perhaps the one saving grace here is that the CBS TV channel won't be airing this over here. They're launching the show via their new streaming network. I was surprised he jumped so readily into CBS' arms as well after that interview but what the hell... it IS a new Star Trek show. There had to be something to entice him to do this.
