Is the artist for that painting Angus McKie?
I had thought it had been used in one of the TTA books, but on digging the books out, its not the same, but does share some similarities. (The TTA book is from '79, btw.)

TTA was famous for using images that had been around for a good few years previous, so unless it was commissioned directly for use in that issue of Omni, its kinda hard to date - well, without an artists name, etc..

I think I used to own that book... or my brother did. I really remember that picture? What's the cover if you don't mind me asking?
A personal fave and the first place I saw it.

Nice place you here btw, nice.

T'is a very nice place indeed- as you'll no doubt discover if you hang around.

Completely unnecessary, but for what it's worth, I'll vouch for hip as a stand-up guy, non-confrontational poster, and asset to this forum- in particular if your topic of choice is discussing 2000AD artwork.

Always good to share thoughts with fellow connoisseurs of decent comics (aka 2000AD).

This thread seems to be going nowhere fast- fergettaboutit and introduce yourself- long time reader, eh? Welcome- what took you so long to find us?
Hey Link Prime, I appreciate your efforts but I cannot be bothered to use a message board where people lurk around waiting to correct people for 'their opinions' it was just an observation that anyone with knowledge of both characters would see the similarity. I did over react but when I googled ftfy I just thought it such a sad way to treat a new poster, especially the 2nd guy backing up the first.
As a long time reader, collector and dealer of 2ad I could have contributed a lot to this site but I'll take my ebergy elsewhere.
I joined this forum a few years ago, looks like I'll be leaving it a few more. Later

Yes, I do have some issues, all explained above. All I said was that looks just like Lobo. I am not at fault here but all the names you have handily put into one post are, thanks for your help. I was taken the piss out of with and you know it and I got defensive and then aggressive.
Nice place you here btw, nice.

Wow! Who let this guy in?  If I had a cubicle I'd get back in it!
I'll make one for you, nice and snug, with a matching jacket. You have failed to explain why you mentioned the copyright and the right and proper comment, maybe you're feeling a tad emabarassed? All I said was that looks just like Lobo and you've gone off on a tangent. You're not a case of who let this guy in more a case of don't let this guy out.

I give up! Carry on...  ::)
Nobody asked for your help and yes, I will carry on;

FTFY. Acronym for "fixed that for you." Often used sarcastically - not to fix an honest mistake, but to sarcastically disagree with someone.

Maybe some of you may like to check how the real world interpret terms before using them because others do on websites they frequent.

It's bit like using the word gay to describe something bad just because your mates do.

BTW Right and proper? I'm still laughing at that one, did you think I was going to take legal action? Awesome.

Maybe people should get to know each other BEFORE having some fun with them. I stand by what I said. It does look like Lobo and FTFY is immature. Why you have brought copyright into the duscussion is baffling. The 2 other posters just saw what I said as an opportunity to take the piss out of a newbie. Prog 17 was the first I bought I do not need telling who came first.

FTFY is hardly poilite, or chilled it's sad one up man ship speak used by children or people who work in cubicles all day. I am neither. If this is how new people are treated then you should have a good look at yourselves it's pathetic. That pic DOES look like Lobo and it's hardly the 1st, 2nd or even third depiction of Slaine I am that is depicted I have NOT made a mistake that warranted fixing.

japandroid I bring you back to Dr X's point, Slaine came first!!!
As for the picture I think it was of it's time, as was Bisley. Which is no bad thing, Bisley was pretty mind blowing for a young lad back then.

WTF! Looks just like Lobo looks just like Slaine!!!

FTFY.

Jesus christ are you fucking stupid? It doesn't matter who came first, it LOOKS JUST LIKE LOBO!! Accept it, move on. You're both just trying to point score, it's VERY SAD!! There's a lot made of Biz, his early Slaine is good, the story carries it though and let's not forget he's a poor man's Corben and no more.

Ha, ha, it's a dreadful pic of Slaine, the eye make up is just like Lobo. It's a shit t-shirt, what pillock chose that design in the first place?

I used to sell huge amounts of Titan books in the early days of ebay, they always sold well at marts too. They seem to sell for pennies these days. I never found a high grade 1st edtition of the 1st Dredd book. I knew a Bolland collector in the US who would have paid a huge amount if one had come along. I still have a near set of Titan books but did sell most of the later Dredd ones. No matter how many times they reprint the early calssics the Titan books remain the best collections, they look so cool.

Nice one Wooly, here's all of the lp art, front back and labels. Very frustrating as it's CD only no 12" lp version, would have looked awesome.

Anyone know anything about any record sleeves by Belardinelli? There is mention of it in the interview he did, would love to see them.

I guess this puts the mockers on my reproduction 'original' '77 T-shirts enterprise  ;)
Cheers for the replies, the stretched images raised my eyebrow. Didn't know about the Dan Dare rights though, what a shame
