There is only one 'floor' in that statement (seriously tho', I agree with you but people always morph the bad guys into symbols of something or other sooner-or-later... happened to pirates, happened to vikings, some future society may have a jolly old trope about the charming chavs of yesteryear)

This was something that ever so slightly irked me on my last viewing of Dredd - as he enters the slo mo lab, he guns down two armed guards but fails to take their weapons even though he is already running low on ammunition, which minutes later almost costs him his life. In fact he only actually bothers getting more ammo when he can source ammo for his own gun, which is a little weird.

Perhaps it can be justified thusly: The technology for 'user-identification-based booby-traps' is available to Judges,- why wouldn't a version of the same technology find it's way to the street gangs?
Obviously not every gang and every weapon,- but just occuring often enough to make it an inherent element of Judge-training that the truly prudent Judge always avoids using unknown weaponry as a matter of life-preserving policy?

A Boy and his Dog - tickles my misogyny; Heaven's Gate - there's a great, great film in there somewhere; Fistful of Dynamite/Duck You Sucker/Once Upon a Time...the Revolution* - a lovely, idiosyncratic tale of compadres united in terrorism, selfishness and Nazi's. Morricone's best soundtrack.

*Contains flash-back scenes shot by Sergio Leone in Toner's Pub, Baggot St. and Howth Castle, Dublin.

There was another comic-book movie last year that was way better.

I'd concur with the good Doctor on 'No Country', I mean, I believe I appreciated it but it didn't quite hit the spot for some reason (perhaps just the mood I was in when I saw it) ; on the topic of Westerns, I really liked the Ox-Bow incident... and Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are fantastic... um... 'Easterns'
...and 'Outland' for a 'Futurern' if y'know what I mean. High Noon, Rio Bravo and Outland make a good set to watch in the one week.

Different strokes for different folks, do you find silent movies more moving/effective in general? I don't, myself. I think acting with audio line delivery and whatnot could help an America adaptation.

The 'twist' in 'America' is dependant on the narrative voice being read rather than heard. I don't know if a silent Dredd film is exactly much of a commercial seller realistically but:

artistically, this sounds to me like a very elegant solution to the main problem of adapting that story.
