Great point about titles. A quarantine-driven re-reado of the superb Hachette Brothers of the Blood volume shows the Fraser droid has previously in this area - an unmemovable chunky logo built into the cityscape was most welcome.

Yup. Love a title incorporated into the artwork.
Seem to remember Jock doing something similar when he drew the classic Judge Dredd logo into a page.
Still don't understand why that logo isn't used any more.

Hmmmmm... I'm voting Dave Stone.
I do think Andy Diggle has a better pedigree of one-off tales, but nothing that beats the first series of Armitage in my eyes.

So, based on that and, as mentioned, the fleshing out of Brit-Cit... I vote for Stone!

Film & TV / Re: Red Dwarf is Coming Back

I dunno, I enjoyed it but it really felt like a few episodes worth of ideas, mashed together without being fully formed.
The whole Holly subplot could have been it's own episode, as could the Rimmer diamond light thing.
The main plot was woefully underdeveloped, especially considering it was the Cat episode we've been promised since series 7 (I think). AND the main baddie was Cat's brother?! Definitely needed more screen time, and a bigger role for Cat.

The retcon-ing of the timing regarding cat society leaving Red Dwarf (Cat himself was supposed to be the son of 'the cripple and the idiot', left behind after the rest of them left), and the whole Cloister thing irked a bit too*.
Still mostly enjoyed it though, mainly for the performances of the main cast - they can handle any material :)

*(I know, I'm asking for continuity in Red Dwarf.... I'm a fool!)

*I think...

ISTR that story was actually that Richard Burton said those words to Andy Diggle on his arrival at the 2000AD offices and that Andy had to restrain himself from shouting back: "No, it's fucking not!"

I could have sworn there was a story involving a very ill Mark Harrison, and Durham Red artwork...
Then again, this might be when he called someone's Mum a
****
!  :|

Not true. An apocryphal, verging on libellous tale, relayed third hand - in the 2000AD documentary, I think. I seriously considered litigation against the person who said it, so please don't bring that up again.

Noted. Sorry mate  :-[

A quick reminder that certain words remain verboten, even if under spoiler tags ;)

Oops! Sorry there  :-X
Maybe a Mod can change it to
see you next tuesday
?  ;)

Agree with everything said in that spoiler. And then some.
Actually disrespectful. Sorry.
Agreed, so far at least.
If this had come maybe 2 progs after her 'death' I'd have welcomed it with open arms.
As it stands, I'm feeling a bit hoodwinked.
Still, could be worse. This 'big secret' could have been something Skip Tracer related.
Still, Simon Fraser back in the prog, and it was a good read.
Still, as the mighty Bish-Op once said* 'It's only a
fucking
comic!'

It'd have to be brand new scans of the original artwork for me to pick this up again, but that'll never happen  :(

Prog / Re: Prog 2170 - Regened (2020)

Well, this ReGened prog was another hit for me  (for my full review, read Mikey's post  :))
Waiting an extra week for the next installments of current thrills? Fine by me. I wait a month for the next episodes in the Meg, and that's fine too.

Yeah, maybe the art styles could have been a little more diverse, but all the stories still looked fantastic, and the storytelling on show works really well. Maybe throw some work Anthony William's way, he's be a good fit for this kind of thing.

I'd be more than happy to have one in four progs be a ReGened - (appreciate I'm probably alone there though, if this thread and farcebook are anything to go by!  :-\)

Got an HTC Vive myself, and yeah the cables and suchlike are a bit of a nuisance. BUT...

...it's
fucking
amazing!
I'm currently enjoying The Lab from Valve - as with most of the best VR it's essentially a bunch of tech demos, but bloody good ones. Very much recommended.

Moss is a beautiful platformer that has been developed just for VR, where you control a mouse who has a sword. Very much recommended.

Google Earth goes without saying. Not brilliant, but bloody good.

And the Nvidia Funhouse is OK too, but again is essentially a tech demo.

Things that you think would work perfectly, like Skyrim and Fallout, actually tend to be a bit shonky IMO.

He's a keeper, Tharg...

Just noticed an art cock-up in this weeks Dredd... I'll not say what it is though  ;)

Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2, surely?
Not sure that idea holds up for part 1...  :-\

Great proggage, just great. Primary thought: Lynch's art coloured by Boswell is an absolute joy

Good god yes! Lynch and Boswell work so well together, more please Tharg!

Since the Art Comp has gone a bit 'mainstream' I can't really get into it. Which is a shame. That's just me, of course.

I know what you mean. Just harder to work up enthusiasm.

Ditto.
Still, the Mighty CFM can do no wrong in my book - surely a KTT is in order?
