Creative Common / Re: HOT DANG DOODLE!

This was to be a follow up for my entry in the 40th Art Comp, but alas ran out of time etc...

Tharg, escaping the clutches of The Law ("Quaquem Blag! I'm free!" - "Halt, green lawbreaker scum!")  whilst on his quest for a piss after the 40th celebrations.
Finished version would have included Judge Death leaving the lavvy, and suggesting to 'leave it another 40 yearssss', and Ro-Jaws chowing down on Death's dead fluids.

Yeah, probably best I never finished it... :-\

1st - Andy Lambert - Celebrate or Else! Just Dredd on his own would have done it, to have six other characters in there just nails it. Superb!

2nd - Tulio Vilela1 - Lil' Tharg. In an alternate universe, there's a '2000AD Kids' special with this as the cover. Who wouldn't want that?

3rd - Adrian Bamforth - Forty. Heh heh heh  ;)

HM - james newell, Leigh S, IAMTHESYSTEM.

General / Greg Staples Interview - Slimehouse TV
25 February, 2017, 09:49:09 PM
As the title says, 15 minute comics interview with Greg Staples for Slimehouse TV, one of the ventures of my mate Theo.
Covers how he got into 2000AD and Dark Justice, amongst other things.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLeI0Uhliv4

Gotta hand it to Theo, he doggedly tracked him down and has now got Greg doing a poster design for his upcoming self-funded feature!

On the online shop it says the 40th special is no longer available to order. Are there more being printed or have I missed out?

Might be best to hit Smiths if the shops run out.
If you fail utterly, I got both covers so would happily send you one of them
Just PM me if you can't get it elsewhere.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens - which kind of sucks.  New features like the multi-build system where you don't know which of multiple builds to make first means that what used to be a fun dynamic is now an arbitrary and repetitive trial-and-error experience, while the blaster shoot-outs suffer from underdeveloped combat mechanics.  It also continues the patience-stretching trend in the Lego games of levels taking an increasingly longer time to play through, to the point I actually fell asleep during the last level I played.  Add cut scenes filled with slapstick comedy that used to be adorable but is now near-insufferable and which cannot be skipped and you have a genuine chore to play.  Maybe kids and/or people new to the series will feel different, but Lego Clone Wars was probably the last time I really enjoyed one of these.

Fully agree with your thoughts on Lego Force Awakens, but still want to recommend Lego Marvel Super-Heroes. Its an original story, and features pretty much all the characters you can think of. And is great!
But don't get Lego Avengers. That ones pretty dull, as it has to stick to MCU characters.

QuoteMad Max - good fun while it lasts, to the point I wrung every last trophy out of this sucker.  Short on setpieces, combat is uncomplicated and fun, with the convoy takedowns a particular hoot to play, though the more successful you are at the game and more gear you acquire, the less it looks and acts like Mad Max.  Gorgeous to look at, with each region being a different kind of post-poxyclips landscape, my favorite probably being Pink Eyes' desolate stretch of Nevada highway that is haunted at night by the gimp monster from Beastmaster - though the Gastown trash heap/junkyard is good, too.

Yeah, Mad Max certainly is fun while it lasts, but falls foul of the old 'as soon as you're fully beefed up, there's no more game' problem. Bit more variety in the enemies wouldn't have hurt either.

Y'know, I might double-dip if the new edition has a square spine...
it does indeed :)

Looks like I'll be buying a 2nd copy then...

Other Reviews / Re: 40th Anniversary Special

Well, the pre-ordered Carlos variant failed to arrive through the post... so I bought the other cover at Smiths! No way am I waiting for this prog!

Brilliant prog, and a brilliant idea to make it Ruby themed. Really makes it feel like genuine celebration of a prog, as opposed to 'just' a summer special or something. (Not that summer specials are to be sniffed at, of course.)

Really hope this episode of Zombo isn't a one-off, and leads into the next series!

Thanks lads, Amstor is to thanks for the artwork looking so well, he spent a lot of time matching it to the original.

And a damn good job he's done also.
If I'd been told these were all-new scans of the originals, I'd believe it.*

*To be fair, that goes for any of the Hibernia releases. Bravo Amstor, bravo

House of Daemon, limited numbers back in stock! Get 'em quick!

If you missed out on this last time, buy it now. Seriously -- it's great. Fantastic job on the production side for a quality presentation, exactly the sort of fast-paced inventive stuff you'd expect from a Wagner/Grant script of this vintage, and phenomenal art from Ortiz... possibly my favourite of his work that I'm familiar with.

Couldn't agree more.
The quality of the reproduction is simply stunning, as is always the case with Hibernia releases.

I know it's Fringe and Super Science, Crytozoology and Ufology, I just want to know the sources.

Unless one of the Vector 13 scribes posts, I'm afraid we can't answer.
Maybe best to just look into Fringe and Super Science, Crytozoology and Ufology in general? It's bound to be where the writers looked for inspiration

Also, I think we've had some Vector 13 reprinted in the floppies already, but not all of it. Even though it's little more than a re-title of Future Shocks, I hope we get more.

Is is safe to say that Stickleback will never return, as
DON'T CLICK THE NEXT SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ STICKLEBACK YET!
...
REALLY, I'M NOT JOKING!
...
he was Sherlock all along, and Stickleback only exists as a role he pretended to be? Must confess, I'm not a fan of this reveal.
