Prog / Re: PROG 2011 - Highly Explosive Thrill-Zone!
14 December, 2016, 06:40:54 PM
The postie finally came through! I got the prog!
Only read Dredd and Kingdom so far.

Chris Weston needs to be forced at gunpoint to sign a Tharg exclusivity contract, that lasts until the end of time. Other than that, words fail me. Just jaw-dropping stuff. Not a bad script either.

Kingdom carries on superbly, and definately looks to be running towards some kind of conclusion IMO.

The rest looked great when i flicked through, but is being left for later.

Well, a bit more sketching happened, and I fucked up his leg and eventially quit, but still pretty pleased with it as a messy inking test...

(Apologies for quality, no working scanner!)

Darren - keep the Dredds coming, they're awesome!

Why is no-one talking about the back cover and last page of Counterfeit Girl? It's absolutely incredible!

I was going to moan how it was a shame that this was the first thing I saw as I picked up the sub, and how it kinda gave the game away a bit.
But on reflection I think it being on the back cover helps with the open-ended nature of the finale - no confines for Libra, not even from the cover of the comic she appears in. And it really is a wonderful piece of work!

Dredd would've worked better if the story had focused just on the idea of someone forgotten on a holding post, instead of shoe-horning the Chaos-denial in at the end, but thats just my opinion.
Was still a good Dredd, from a great writer.

Discovering the Zenith books are on sale, only for volume 3 to be removed from sale whilst I'm trying to add it to my order.

Bah!

1st: Nic Freeman - Star Pin-Up. Looks like it's scanned straight from a prog, and a very touching tribute. Great work.
2nd: Mark Higgins - Salute to Steve.
3rd: Neil McClements - I am the Laaahh! Alright, I'm calling it: Mark Higgins and Neil McClements should be proper droids. There, I've said it. I feel better now! Two superb pieces of work.

HMs - I know I shouldn't do this, but everyone else who entered this month. Hats off to all of you, I'm just depressed I still couldn't find the time to enter this one myself. Sorry Steve.

Couple more washed-out looking B+W pages here too, but nothing unreadable.

Absolutely adore Staz Johnson's cover. Would love to see him get more Dredd work.

In the prog, both Dredd and Hunted finish on a high. Wyatt and Lynch make a good team on Dredd, and Hunted has been an unexpected delight from start to finish. PJ's art was astonishingly good in my opinion, and suited the strip perfectly.

FLESH! and Savage aint my thing.

Future Shock was OK, but I'm missing Counterfeit Girl already. Charming strip that's really won me over these past few weeks. Rufus is another one who deserves more prog-time!

All in all a solid prog.

Next step, buttering up McKenzie* to write some more...

They'd never ask him, and he'd never accept.  Alan McKenzie's had a serious downer on the prog ever since he was fired left Fleetway.  Hence his non-involvement in TPO, the Future Shock docu etc.

Well thats a damn shame  :( What a horrible way for it all to end.
At least there'll be this collection I guess. Cheers for the info GR.

Luke Kirby back in print? Get in!

Hats off once again to all involved in making this a reality. You've really got a great team, Tharg

No show in Sheffield, sadly. Fingers crossed for monday!
Seen the cover on facebook though... brilliant cover, but looks potentially a bit spoilery.
Clearly looking like cloaked people/judges with elbow pads and the like as opposed to any enceladus entity?
Not that I'd know either way.
Being progless  :(

Should add, as much as I love the Williams & Flint droid's Dredd teamups I really want this whole Enceladus storyline just wrapped up for good. Dragging on a bit now, and I still haven't a clue wether the bloody horse existed or not!

Thats not to say I'm not enjoying current Dredd, because I am. Its great stuff.
Just getting sick of the subject matter.

That complete structural survey of the Hall of Justice is long overdue. :D
The place has more secrets than GCHQ.

Are we absolutely certain that they're not the same secret passageways? No particular reason why new arrival Sam would know about them...

Thats how I read it. I'm all but sure we'll be seeing
Smiley
next week.
