Aw no. One of the all-time greats, not just on Dredd but comics in general.

Like Jimbo said, this is a real gutpunch.
My heart goes out to his family, and all who knew him. Devastating news  :'(

For what it's worth, I truly enjoy the occasional day spent without trousers and watching crap on youtube  I can't stand humous though.

Had a bad day on this thread a while back, took the advice given (thanks especially to Jim for his suggestion) and think I'm feeling a bit better these days. Certainly still have the bad days, but now see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for once. Still not quite drawing yet, but I'm finding myself thinking about drawing more often, so...

Wish I had some good advice for my fellow jobseekers on the board - I'm lucky to be working, but hate the place I'm at if I'm honest. Just taking a break from writing a lengthy 'suitability for the job' bit for a temp position with the council. Which is why this post reads a bit like a massive brain fart.

Sorry, I've really added nothing.
As you were!

General / Re: SEPTEMBER ART COMP - VOTING THREAD

Popped into Oxfam today, and picked up the Titan Rogue Trooper Vol.1 for the princely sum of £2.49 (just a quid more than 8 cans of Ace!) Its in very good condition, but not quite mint.

Have decided to offer it as a prize (as long as CFM is cool with it) for second place (as first place already gets stuff).

So, whoever gets second place, PM me your address and I'll get it posted

1st - Andy Lambert2 - Dreamweaver. Its like Dave Gibbons and Belardinelli got spliced in the flypod! Beautiful stuff.
2nd - IAMTHESYSTEM - Rogue Reflections. Brilliantly laid out image, and it took me a short while to suss the meaning of the title. Great stuff.
3rd - mightybren2 - Nu Earth Wanderer. This makes Colin Wilson happy. And me :). Lovely inks.
4th - Paul Moore - Rogue. Love this style - very Dave D'Antiquis. Really good anatomy.
5th - Mark Higgins - Stealth Rogue. Utterly amazing stuff  :o Rogue's skin is strangely mesmerising. Only a matter of time till this proto-droid is gracing the cover of the prog.

HM - james newell - Rogue. Captures Nu-Earth pretty well I reckon. Really good stuff.

Film Discussion / Re: Dredd (2012)

Watched Dredd with my Mum (73) last sunday, and she loved it.
She particularly liked seeing the bad guys/bent judge getting beaten up by Dredd, and thought Ma-Ma was a suitably nasty villain who got a suitably nasty ending.

When it started she said "Is he that comic you've been reading for years?"

My Mums awesome!

QuoteTharg - give Carl some work!

This has got me thinking - whats the situation regarding classic artists in the prog?
Does Tharg offer them work at all, or do they get in touch with Tharg if/when they fancy the work?
I know page rates can be an issue, as can certain contracts, just wondering if artists have to keep pitching to editorial or not?

Im thinking the Bollands, McMahons, Critchlows, Dillons etc.

its gotta be Ron Perlman. In the right film (with a gargantuan budget)

And a gargantuan helmet - multiply fan complaints to the power of 10 when they build a helmet to fit his noggin.

:D Shave his head and paint the helmet on...

If you are just looking to talk shit on here...

My Irony-Sense is tingling.

Fair enough, but look at my posts, and the timeline, and how some people and comments received different type of responses. Do you think that is random?

Do I think the responses and opinions of other boarders are random? Um... no.
No idea what you're getting at with 'the timeline'.

Anyway, best of luck with whatever it is you think you're going to achieve by ranting on a UK comics-based forum. For what it's worth, I hope you pick up a copy of 2000AD at some point and find something worth obsessing over.*

*Not that it did Thryllseeker any good... :-\

After Urban, its gotta be Ron Perlman. In the right film (with a gargantuan budget) he'd be perfect IMO.

That said, I was impressed by Langley Kirkwood in the Dredd film. Reckon he could be ok as Dredd.
