>>Who's the woman in the photo? Who does he use for Dredd?

No idea, I'm afraid.

Another Anderson artist Buzz Lightbox culprit was Steve Sampson, although he was a lot more blatant.

His Anderson variously loked like Kim Basinger, Madonna or whoever, depending on what photos he was using that week.

"Stop all presses - just had THE idea for this. Doesn't Arthur Ransom (ultimate Anderson artist, one of the few not to turn her into an offduty stripper) usually sketch from life?"

If by 'from life' you mean 'from photographs', then, yes, he does.

>>I think she may be beyond the budget of the planned Dredd movies. We'll probably end up with Cat Dealy.... Hmmmm....

Check out the imdb for her filmography.  That Oscar nomination for Leaving Las Vegas was a loooong time ago now, and The Saint looks to have probably been the high point of her career, at least paycheck-wise.

A couple more years and a few more TV movies, and I reckon she'll be well within Shoreline's financial reach...

>>John Wagner probably doesn't have scripts for comics that were published this year, let alone decades ago...

Him, and everyone else.

I delete a script as soon as the story's been published.  After rigorously comparing the two to see where the bastard artist/editor/colourist/letterer has messed it all up, of course.

A script's just a stage to getting to the finished article.  Once the thing's been published, what's the point of the script?

Issues of creator liaison aside, they don't actually have to have Pat's (or anyone else's) permission for anthing.

They legally own the characters.  Pat and anyone else can't 'allow' or disallow anything they wish to do with them.

There's a series of Meg shorts called 'Whatever Happened To...' currently in the works, digging up (or, in at least one case, killing off) Dredd characters from yesteryear and finding out what they're doing now and what they've been up to in the intervening years (or decades, in some cases, I think.)

Dunno if anyone's doing Booth, but expect some surprises.

>>Gordon, I strongly advise your missus 'phones a friend next time she's threatened with disembowelment by some knife-wielding maniac wearing a Scream mask.

Ahem.

I didn't say Jason was the killer in the 1st Friday 13th. I said he was a mongoloid retard in it.  We were told this in the film, and the (dream?) image of Jason at the end, when he leaps out of the water to get the last survivor backs this up.

>>Yeah, off to see it this weekend. Reckon you're right about the stripy kiddie-fiddler winning

Yes, isn't it strange how they now completely gloss over the fact that Freddy Krueger was originally a paedophile sex-killer...

So, basically, it's Freddy the Kiddy Fiddler versus Jason the Mongoloid Retard (if you remember waaay back to Friday the 13th 1).

Wow!  Why they don't promote it like that, I'll never understand.

Hey, now you've gone too far, Diggle.

Hawk the Slayer rocks.  Why, as a young lad, I think I went to see it THREE TIMES.  On a double-bill with Saturn 3.

I think that says it all.

Glad to hear it's not just my DVD player that acts up on a regular basis.  It refused to play my freshy-bought Jason X disc last week (perhaps it's opinion of said cinema slasher-in-space delight wasn't as high as mine) necessitating a trip back to HMV for a replacement copy.

All this, and Freddy Vs Jason out at the cinema today...CARNAGE!

Bah, I bet it's a fix, and that big Elm Street nancy boy wins.

Ahem.

If you can get the buggering thing working - 'cos unfortunately I can't at the moment - you might wanna check the thread history feature here, paying particularly close attention to your comments here sometime late last year about the early Kill Bill promo stuff.

Let's just say your distinctive expression of anticipatation at said forthcoming event was notable enough to remain somewhat memorable.

SOLD!

You're probably a bit late, surely?  The game hits the shelves in six weeks and all that stuff would have presumably been done, well, eons ago...

Dare I also add that, for an actor for the Dredd role, you could probably do a lot worse than Temuera Morrison.

He's got the right tone of growly voice, and anyone who's seen him in Once Were Warriors will know just how downright brutal and imtimidating he can be.

>>He also starred in the excellent 'Once Were Warriors'.

And, boy, what a cheery film that it.  Rape, suicide, wife-beating, alchoholism, racism, social deprivation.  I haven't laughed so much since the last time I watched 'Last Exit To Brooklyn'.

Oh, and Temuera Morrison (for it is he) is also in Speed 2: Cruise Control.  Not that I've seen it, mind.  Oh no...
