Mike Dorey doing what he does best - grimy tales from the contemporary (and near-future*) society.

* at the time they were published though recent-past now, whether MACH One/Zero or Invasion**.

** Continuity-geek time - we know that the airship was skyjacked in 1988 and MACH Zero takes place not long after that***

*** Apologies if this is covered in the show - I've not actually listened to this episode yet, have spent the best part of two hours struggling with wi-fi in the garden while trying to listen to the latest Space Spinner 2000 at the same time as running a barbecue and helping with gardening****

**** first world problems or what?

I like the Planet Ireland continuity-hole explanation best - there's prior art, after all.

Zoned out for a moment there but is it explained how Maeve manages to make Ireland her local patch when mutant bounty hunters need permits to go to Earth?  Or does she just nab them whenever they come up? (continuity geek alert!)

I woke this morning excited to read the next installment of Apes Assemble!,  the Trifecta-style crossover about Chimpsky, Heston, Travis Perkins and Krong (yes,  Krong, I know)  joining forces to fight crime after yet another mysterious virus incapacitates the Judges. It was only as I pondered why Travis was still alive that the penny dropped.

Ah well, probably for the best.

Is that the original Krong or the one that appeared on the ape island story a year or two back?

Isolation and the internet has led me to start listening to a favourite of my parents', Steeleye Span.

That's me digging out the vinyl and putting on Old Masters then :)

Boardgame or roleplaying game?  The latest boardgame is called Judge Dredd: Helter Skelter.

2000AD Prog 287: Imprisoned one hundred miles above the Earth... with no hope of escape!

One of those stories that had just finished when I began reading 2000AD.

White Dwarf No 36: "He's tough... but he's fair!"

Judge Dredd takes over White Dwarf (as much as a boardgame can take over an RPG-centric magazine).

You know, as terrifying as the pandemic is, I can't help being more terrified by the attitude of Trump to this situation.  Leaving aside his allegedly sarcastic "have we tried injecting disinfectant" in the utterly inappropriate daily briefing setting, he now sees the US situation as a "badge of honour"!   :o

That wasn't sarcastic - he meant it.  He only said it was sarcasm when he got called up on it.  This was only a week or so ago - don't fall for the 'new narrative'.

Yeah - Toxic! is included (the 1991 blip).

I was swithering on The Phoenix. I was trying to think of any sort of equivalent for 2000 AD that's on the UK market for kids - and my daughter reads it. Is it the next gen? So: maybe that's weak sauce, I don't know. (Also: see title of chart. Any UK comic could be included.)

If you put 2000 AD and The Phoenix in front of an under-ten, which one will they get into?

Pirates of Pangaea is from The Phoenix, right?  If so that's the only thing I've read.
