On arresting Dredd, quite a few things don't work unless you have the foundations set first. Fans often clamour for Death but he makes no sense without knowledge of Dredd, and nor do things like Mechanismo, Cal and 'doubts' about the system.

I don't know about that - Cal was pretty early in the strip's history.  Remember we didn't even have a year of Dredd Mega-City One stories before he was packed off to Luna-City One.  He came back for one week, then went off to the Cursed Earth.  The day he returned from that was the day the Law Died.

Can't read the forums at work any more :-(

Do you get a specific error message?

Looks like a DNS blocking firewall thing.  I'll copy and paste it in to an email to myself tomorrow, then post it here in the evening.

As a white male I'm perfectly happy for the next Doctor Who to be BaEM, female, etc, though with the same proviso that I'd have for the next James Bond - the actor has to be from the British Isles (sorry, American, Canadian, South African, Australian and New Zealander actors).

On the other hand - Antipodeans make fantastic Judge Dredds :)

Complaints like the one in this thread feel like people raging against Thor being female, ignoring that he was once a frog, which is apparently somehow OK.

I'm not a great reader of Marvel, so... a frog?

QuoteAlso, quite how a gender switch is like an advert for LGBT+, I have no idea. (Personally, I'd be quite happy if the next Doctor was something other than a white bloke as long as the portrayal was good.)

QuoteI doubt anyone is really clamouring for a deluxe reprint of Terror of the Cats though...  ;)

You're not wrong...
Hey, I liked Terror of the Cats (admittedly I have all the episodes in Scream! and don't have the space for reprints of things I already have).

Things I want:

I really hope we get to see Brit-Cit at some point, and a spin off Armitage series if we're especially lucky.
Brit-Cit would be good (as a spin-off, in a CSI:$insert-city-here manner).

Judge Giant needs to be in it.

Yep, though which one?

Even if this isn't going to be a continuation of the 2012 film, I hope Karl and Olivia can reprise their roles.
Even if they're not the same characters, I'd like to see them make an appearance (think Superman / Smallville / Supergirl / New Adventures, with actors from one making appearances in what comes after).

Thanks, glad people enjoyed it!

I can't remember what I said exactly, but yeah with the fan films I tend to get a bit worn-out/depressed by the end of things.

Working on the post-production side of things, It's more of a long slog, shoots are physical effort but they're over quickly.

Pre-production there's still the excitement of potential, by the time you hit post and it's tracking Johnny's eyes for the hundredth time, the excitement has died off - the only relief is when you get someone else's contribution, whether that's in sound or an edit.

At the end it's more just, that's not how I wanted it to be - but I think it might have been Dave Gibbons who posted about people only seeing how the end product falls short compared to how they imagined it - everyone else just sees the end product.

Well, I've not quite seen the end product of the S/D film yet, but what I saw at the 40th was impressive - can't wait to see it again!  One week 'til planned release/publication date...

By the way, your film comes up second and third when I search for "Strontium Dog" on google...

General / Re: Readership numbers of Prog and Meg?
15 May, 2017, 12:55:30 AM
How did I miss this thread until now?  The closest figure we know for sure is that 650,000 copies of the film were sold on DVD and Blu-Ray (roughly 50% of that in each of the formats).  Doesn't enlighten us to the prog figures though :-/

I have this one from 2013 in my collection, cant remember where I bought it from though.

The one with a coloured version of Judge Death in, yes?  I think that was about the time IDW was starting to release it's 2000ad-related reprints, and this was to help promote the range.
