So, to Hell with the victims? It was too complicated a task to protect them? I'm not buying that.

Absolutely nobody in this thread has suggested that, so why are you pretending they have?  Everybody (even you) is saying that the armourer is responsible - the only disagreement until you said that was that some (well, you) think the actor should also be held responsible.

2000AD Prog 444: Welcome Home, Rogue! "Any last requests?" "Yeah... MISS!"

Purity's flashback, Candida's flashback, now it's the turn of Thoth and Satanus!  Mystery hands are going to make Rogue war.  Judge Dredd: I am the... love?  The Mean Team go on the run and being psychic isn't all it's cracked up to be.

On the all important question of trim, I don't think red (as in Judge Dredd's own fine helmet) feels right. I'd go for grey or pale blue.

No one is going to be wearing the finished article, right...

...you do know what happens to EVERYONE who dresses up as Judge Death, right..?
(At this point there have been as many 'citizen tainted by Death' stories as there have actual Judge Death stories  :D)

Or mega-citizens tainted by latent psychic actors while playing Death :)

There's the possibility of squaxx wearing it at Southern Contingent gatherings, but the skellybones in our house are the main target.

Oh, and no offence to Harry Kipling, but Metalzoic, without hesitation.

Metalzoic - just wish someone DC or Rebellion can reprint this
I recall Mills said it nearly happened, but something derailed a reprint effort. A pity. I'd love this in HC, ideally in B+W.

So, yeah, Metalzoic.

'something' being DC - I'm sure Mills, O'Neill and Rebellion would all love for it to be reprinted (well, depending on how Mills is feeling about reprints this month).

I also grew up around guns* and wouldn't expect an actor, someone who spends their working day immersed in fiction and special effects, someone who pretends to do all kinds of things from the most mundane to the impossible, someone who is surrounded by people whose job it is to do everything for them that doesn't involve acting, people whose job it is to make sure everything is comfortable and safe for them so they don't have to worry about anything but pretending convincingly, to be held accountable for eff all when handed something and told it's safe.

Because the actor potentially hasn't grown up around guns. Anyone handing a gun to an actor should always assume that the actor is an ignorant moron.

* I haven't actually fired one since I was a child, (and that's not a joke).

Pretty much what I'd say - I grew up among some guns (not to a US survivalist extent more a British rural context) and I wouldn't expect somebody who hasn't grown up around guns to know gun etiquette especially when everything else you deal with is fake (false doors, building facades, why would you expect a weapon to be the genuine article?)

List of all his appearances and posters and whatnot, here.

Skimming through that, is the New Scientist story from a few years back in there?  Couldn't remember what the story was called, but I didn't find "scientist" when I searched.

No, for two reasons:

1. I only know about it because you just mentioned it.
2. My data only covers publications from the House of Tharg, m'lud. (Not strictly true, or even definable, but  there you go.)

[Starts looking for a copy of that New Scientist...]

Here you go - four years ago already!  Though the last two barely count as years...

2000AD announcement

I'm guessing the following is perfectly readable if you're subscribed to New Scientist.

If you don't fancy paying a fiver to read the story, here's a synopsis.

One more link from Down the Tubes, containing the all-important creator credits

Black Beth : Vengeance Be Thy Name (from the pages of SCREAM!) - paperback, 80 pages, 7th June 2022

In a world of swords and sorcery, the evil tyrant Rassau discovers that he is destined to be killed by a fearsome warrior called Beth. With the aid of a former warrior - the blind Quido - Beth becomes a skilled fighter and sworn enemy of all that is evil! She will not rest until her people are avenged!

This book contains both the original strip and the brilliantly resurrected stories that have been masterfully guided by writer Alec Worley and DC Comic's newest star, the astonishing Greek artist, DaNi!

Blas Gallego there, being the inspiration for "Blas in the Gallego system" (homeworld of the Gronk).  British Comics Wiki.

Ta!  For background, we have a life-size hallowe'en skeleton which is currently wearing a Judge helmet* and Rackle called them Judge Death the other day, which prompted me to ask whether she'd be up to knitting a Death helmet!

* Mega-City One Justice Department variety

I don't play computer games so can't comment, but I feel like I've heard there's a very good and scary Alien-based game out there from recent years, written by one Daniel Abnett.

I don't have any particular insight, but I believe a British software company released an Aliens Vs Predator game in 1994 which really helped them make their mark.  Whatever happened to that company? ;)

(which is to say I think the entire reason we're here on this forum dedicated to one of the longest-running British comics is because that game made enough money to make that company).

And the story's not bad either. I seem to remember it never quite goes anywhere in the two later books, or at least fails to resolve, but there's a nice mix of classic dino-chomping on human action, alongside a none-too-subtle allegory of 'time change' terrorists as 'climate change' activists.

I mean, the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event takes place in the last book, but that kind of puts an end to any other plot development! ;-)
