It's written by Diggle. I think it's in star wars tales 18, which should be January 2004.

as a bit of blatant self promotion I've got a Chewbacca on Hoth story in Star Wars Tales 17, out in September. Cary Nord's drawn it, and it looks lovely.

'"Been let down unparalled, like the last episode of Seinfeld"

The Bloodhound Gang'

Considering the fct that 99% of Seinfeld episodes are genius, I think we can forgive them the slightly disappointing final episode.

Now, the final episode of Larry Sanders? That's about as good as TV gets.

You're not the only one waiting patiently for this.

Jerry Seinfeld did an interview a few months back where he said they're working on it now - putting together DVD extras.

Lord knows when it'll hit the shops.

I want every season on DVD. Bad.

And the rest of Larry Sanders too, please.

State of Play's currently the best thing on TV (now the sopranos has finished).

'And Rob, equally, has a full head of lush hair'

I wept when I read that, PJ...

beautiful words.

Two quality photos there of Mr Boo Cook.

Also, I resent how bald I look in the two I'm in.

Nothing to do with the photos. I just resent being bald.

'Henry drew twelve (that's TWELVE) perfectly legible and understandable panels on one page, making the story flow with a great degree of clarity. How many other artists, especially up-and-comers, have the draughtsmanship and storytelling ability to do the same?'

Was talking to simon fraser about this at Bristol. He was saying how european books often go beyond 10 panels on a page without the legibility suffering, often up to 15 panels.

Personally I'm with you - you have to be bloody good to make that amount of panels work - and Henry's bloody good. There's a lot of pro artists who occasionally have trouble with storytelling on a six or seven panel page. Lord help them if they tried 12.

Up-and-comers would be better offf honing their skills on 'normal' pages with seven panels or less before they start attempting double that amount.

'I'm gonna shut up now, having thoroughly (sp?) proved how dense I am.

It really was very enjoyable though!'

Thanks.

'So which one was Al? '

Al was Gio's best friend - who betrayed him during the story.

If Family comes back for a sequel all characters will wear big white t-shirst with their names printed on them.

Was talking to si fraser about this at the bristol con - how the majority of succesful 2000ad/Meg strips have one central character and their name is usually the title of the strip. It's tough to do an ensemble piece with six pages a month.

'Rob; was Al the one Gio called "Tiny"?'

Nope, Gio referred to Cane as Tiny. It was Cane's old nickname when they were kids, Gio would use it to rile him when Cane was getting too big for his boots.

Do pay attention, 007.

As for recap paragraphs - I think anything that makes comics more accessible to the new reader is a good thing. a full page is too much - I agree, but there's no harm in a few "previously..." lines.

If it's good enough for the sopranos....

'am now hoping there'll be a sequal - although what with (practically) everyone dying I don't know how that would work... '

Kurt and Talia are still alive - and they're the heart of the story. So is Richie and Al (sans legs).

I know what you mean with the colour. In retrospect black and white wasn't the best way to go. The intention was to do an ensemble piece and I was trying to keep obvious exposition at a minimum. But because there's no obvious Dredd-style costumes on anyone and they were all wearing suits I understand why some people may have found it difficult to tell who's who. A little more exposition may have been needed, I feel.

Also, the six-pages a month format made probably hampered it slightly. But that's my responsibility to pace it properly so people aren't lost when picking it up each issue. A little intro paragraph each month may help - it wasn't that long ago the Meg gave a page over to intro for each strip.

I'd like to bring it back, in colour. We'll see.

Well, Miller's Crossing is at last coming out on Region 1, thankfully.

Now if they just release the rest of the Larry Sanders Show on DVD I'll be momentarily happy.

'Vincent Ward was the name of the first director on board for Alien 3'

William Gibson did a script for aliens 3, i seem to recall. it was even available on the net a year or so back.

aliens 4 was bloody awful, wasn't it.
