That's a shame.  I've read a stack of his books over the years, and also some Evan Hunter short stories - enjoyed them all.  I think Akira Kurosawa was a bit of a fan as well, which I always though was nice and somehow fitting...

Yeah ,I picked up a book of his randomly, once thinking, Ed McBain thats gotto be a crime writer with the typical Marlowesque charactors that everybody reads.

Just the one.
