Hi Guys,

First of all hello!

First post here but have been lurking for a while.

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction with where to find what I am looking for.

There were 2 judge dredd audio dramas that were aired on radio 1 I believe and I am struggling to find them anywhere.

Links from Barney below.

The day The Law Died

The Apocolypse War

Does anyone know where I can get hold of them anywhere?

There is a copuy of the day the law died on youtube but I have not found either to purchase and no version of the the apocolypse war anywhere.

I really enjoyed listening to these and was hoping to get hold of them again.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I think I still have The Day The Law Died on audio cassette somewhere.

Fleabay is about the only place I can think of.

Apart from the two Dirk Maggs/Radio 1 audios you mention, Big Finish also had a range of Dredd (and Strontium Dog) audios.  They made 18 full-cast stories and four narrated ones.  I personally feel they were better than the radio plays, and you can still buy most of them cheaply as downloads, if it's just an audio Dredd fix you're after.

If however it's really just those two stories you're after, I think eBay is pretty much the only answer as they're fairly old now.  I managed to track down cassette versions that way, then later managed to get the CD releases.  I wouldn't part with the CDs but I've got the cassettes as spares if you get desperate.

I was only discussing this on FB yesterday!

I can't help you with acquiring the tapes/CDs, but thought I'd show you what The Apocalypse War CD looks like:

Thanks guys,

Yeah I have been trying these routes and to get the CD's like you said as I can't imagine that the tape has help up all that well after all these years. I was just hoping someone would know of a secret stash somewhere.

Naive perhaps  :D

I have seen the big finish ones and was looking to get those as well but was trying to get hold of those two for nostalgia really. I remember them to be quite cheesy but enjoyable none the less.

I should probably check those out.

I believe the Batman "Knightfall" adaptation was by the same people, and that was absolutely amazing.

Yes, 'Knightfall' was by Dirk Maggs too and got a CD reissue a few years back along with 'The Lazarus Syndrome' and two or three Superman stories he did too.

Maggs has also been a key player in the Hitchhikers Guide radio & stage revivals.  He can also be seen in animated form in at least one of the Mr Bean cartoons, for which he was responsible for the sound.
