I like the logo for Helium, but I really wish it was in a  box or frame - every week I have a moment of confusion trying to work out where the hand is coming from on the first page!

Dredd and Absolom are absolutely cracking (this Dredd is one of the most enjoyable for ages), Jaegir is also very good, but I'm not getting on with Outlier at all.

ZenArcade

Fantastic Dredd; Outlier is interesting and Jaegir is simply brilliant! Z

Not just me then. Phew

Really strong Prog this week behind that brilliant cover (which would look great on a t-shirt I think).

Dredd, Absalom and Jaegir crack along superbly and I also enjoyed the panic inducing muzzle flash panels in Outlier, though I still feel a bit out of synch with that strip. However, the main point in me posting this is to pour praise on Helium...

It really didn't feel like an infodump episode at all to me, I think it felt quite tense and engaging. But my good giddy grud fearing aunt the strip is just beautiful to look at. That there D'Israeli has always been good at the old scribbles I reckon and I've always loved his monochrome work and use of colour, but the shading and in particular the limning on Helium is delicious - such subtlety! It just glows and grounds the imagery to the extent they really do look like I could reach out and touch them. It puts me in a good mood and takes me out of this grey existence to float among the clouds an that. Totally buying the anticipated collected edition.

The bar owner's name is Wazir, presumably. Hand Colin MacNeil the keys to a Mondeo, and when he returns the car it'll be an Aston Martin. He offers such a return on investment I feel guilty he's spent the last thirty years bestowing his gifts upon us when he could have earned a fortune and international recognition working on characters whose publishers pay in dollars.

I knew where Mike Carroll was going with the Douglas thing, but it was a neat idea and - by placing such a mundane location at the heart of sinister machinations - managed to recapture the silly fun and incongruity I felt when Garth Ennis first juxtaposed the fascist glamour of Dredd with the couthiness of the Emerald Isle. If there's anywhere that can make Dublin look like Manhattan ...

Obviously, I'm hoping the bad guy turns out to be the Guledig, and that Carroll's reaffirming all those Millsverse links with Dredd that never get mentioned anymore.

Everything was excellent this week, yet again! Great work, droids. Roll on next prog!

Here's my take on Prog 1938

Absolutely loving Dredd and Helium. Both strips have stellar teams on them and are just fantastic.

Absalom, Jaegir and Outlier are all keeping me engaged and are developing nicely, but don't quite have the same "wow factor" as Dredd and Helium have.

Great run of thrills though - keeping me entertained as we head towards the next wave!

Is thet some relation of Nearly Normal Norman on the far left skimmer? Z

When did Nearly Normal Norman first appear??

Oh and by the way does anyone know who the Normal-looking (pun intended) behind Evans the Fist is?

ZenArcade

He appeared towards the end of Portrait of a Mutant. He was part of an assault unit storming a bunker: got zapped by a T- weapon. Z
