BEM #29

By Martin Lock - 1980
Cover by Mike McMahon

Features a VERY candid interview with 2000 AD editor Steve McManus and assistant editor Alan Grant (By the way, when did IPC start returning artwork?).
The whole zine is an enjoyable read, but everyone seems to be in a bad mood...

Interesting to imagine how different the nineties might have been if Steve McManus's staff buyout of 2000ad had ever happened. Alan Grant's predictions about the future of publishing are pretty accurate, and the only idea of his that hasn't come to pass provided the basis of a classic Judge Dredd story.

Fascinating to read 2000ad history being discussed as current events - thanks so much again, David.

Sweet! it's good to be able to read them on line, but I realise that there's nothing quite like holding and turning the pages of the real thing  :)
