Over at that there Faciebook the 2000ad Megaverse - when not having looonnnng and on occassion quite interesting debates about what we are discussing here on the Forum* - they post some cracking stuff. One this mornig really caught my eye, so I'm knickering their hard work to post here, but you should really check it out there.

Apparently the wonderous Bill Sienkiewiciz did have the nature of Dredd's epic Oz described to him fully and so when producing the cover for the Titan edition could (not quite been confirmed that the picture below is the direct result of this misunderstanding) have produced this picture as a result

Willie Russell who used to be Frank also provided this explanation from Nick Landau

Now isn't that just a wonderful picture because, a wonderful picture because, because, because, because, Because Bill didn't understand what Oz was....

ahem...

sorry

* No really its quite sweet they had a big old discussion about how silly it was that we were having a big old discussion about whose writing folks prefer Gordon Rennie's or Alan Moore's... which lead them to have a discussion about whose writing they prefer...

They also said how much better forums were to discuss comics, instead of using facebook and how it was a shame nobody used forums any more.  While using a facebook group to discuss what people were currently discussing on a forum.

The Megaverse is an odd one. There are some fun people there, but also so many who don't appear to have read the Prog since 1988 and yet seem to have loads of fun ripping apart whatever 2000 AD is doing today.

"It's all political now," say 'fans', pining for the early years of a comic created by the famously apolitical, status-quo-advocate [checks notes]... Pat Mills?

Nothing political in cold war-era Russians invade UK, nor future US fascist cop kicks the shit out of everyone, nor subjugated mutant underclass forced to kill people to survive, nor upstart barbarian decides to free his people from effective slavery, nor...

Yeah, but IP, they use to balance all that by showing us the thrilling adventures of that Heroic human defender Torquemada..

Then there was the story of the brave Wermacht soldier who saved the world from Antifa vampires...

I still think this seems a bit of a stretch - I mean, surely he would ahve been sent some instuction on the story - seems more like a joke image he knocked up, or for a planned reprint of the Twister storyline than an artist just assuming that a story called Oz would feature Dorothy and pals?
