noah, that letter is laughtastic, hope tharg gets it before that papershredder droid interviens, its a winner.

Sorry, TPS, but I think that's rubbish. Alan Barnes has asked, here and in the Meg, for more letters so they can actually publish a letters page each month. I doubt the situation is much better in the weekly, so they're unlikely to be turning away letters because they don't "project the right image".

I don't doubt that there is some editorial bias - letters that praise the prog are more likely to see print than ones that slate it - but I'd be willing to bet that anyone who wrote a coherent, generally positive letter would get it printed, whether they're from Droitwich, Saitama or Timbuktu.

i wonder how drastically the letters dried up after places like this sprung up ? i know i vent my gibberish here now rather than stalking Tharg like i used to.

Noah Angel

First of all, thanks for the praise. *BLUSH*
My motivation for the letter was that I genuinely felt the need to make a statement about Gareth Hurley's comments regarding Floyd as he didn't actually seem to have a valid reason for doing so other than the fact that Floyd letters appear on a regular(ish) basis.

I wonder if Gareth writes letters back to his far away relatives slating them for their regular communications on the state of affairs. I doubt it.

I've always felt that Floyd was more than capable of summing up the general mood of myself and hopefully other readers with his letters. In fact he is the prime reason I've never felt the need to plague the Nerve Center myself on a regular basis.

As far as I'm concerned Floyd's letters are worth a thousand "I like..." or "I don't like..." and the possibly helpful in re-hashing old characters "My favourite ever 2K story was...". When placed among the like of such he becomes an oasis in the desert.

As a closing note, just remember when the editorial had the *brilliant* idea of removing Tharg as editor and replacing him with the Vector 13 gimp. Floyd like Tharg (and to a lesser extent that deranged Trout)is a 2K institution let's keep it that way.

Lights up!

P.S. I'm not really this obsessive you know. It's just a bit of fun. But Floyd is great isn't he. ;)

well floyd gets loads of letters not printed, i'm sure tharg only prints floyd's letters when he needs one more coherent letter to be able to print a letters page. Floyd writes a letter per prog for grud's sake!

Nice letter, BTW.

Hah, I've worked it out;

Floyd = Gareth Hurley = Noah Angel  (It's obvious really)

And I have proof, I've never (ever) seen them in the same place at the same time...It's just a ploy by Floyd to get more postcards so that he can finish his *coat-of-many-cards*...

paulvonscott

Ha, ha, according to the new prog thread, Floyd has another letter in this week, so that should be quite funny for the bloke who wrote the letter.

ming

If that letter doesn't get published, Noah, maybe Floyd can send you a set of postcards?  It deserves some recognition!

Anyway, I've found a flaw in your logic WoD. Floyd can't be anyone else as he doesn't have time to be with all that letter writing and building storage for his prizes. ;)

Noah Angel

P.S. I'm really not Floyd or Gareth Hurley. Honest!
