Well, it's justa  rumour, but I've heard Alan Moore & Daughter Ltd, purveyors of quality comic books, Northampton, are going to be writing old IPC characters The Steel Claw and House of Dollman in a DC/IPC combo.

Dunno if it's true or not.  It certainly sounds unlikely, but if it anyone was going to do it, well he's the man.

"IPC a British comics publisher has teamed up with DC. Andrew Sumner editor of IPC there said "DC and IPC are teaming up to bring the IPC stable of classic comic characters to America. The Steel Claw and the House of the Doll Man, were just two of a library of characters from the '60s mentioned. The people writing it are: Alan Moore and his daughter Leah. The artist working on the line is Shane Oakley with inker Sandra Hope. The covers are to be done by Dave Gibbons."

Mr C

Fantastic news! Just hope that Ms Moore is as good as her old man.

paulvonscott

Only read one story by Leah, it was a gorrilla story in the Tom Strong series.  I liked it.  Let's face it she has a pretty goood editor close at hand if she needs it and she seems to eb involved with loads of other comics, so must be doing something right.

Titan seem clever bunnies now don't they getting that license to reprint these old strips?

ESCUBRIA

Thought Moore would never write for DC again?

The Amstor Computer

I think that particular line has already been crossed, what with ABC being an imprint of Wildstorm, which is part of the DC Comics stable. There's just enough separation to make Moore happy, I think, and if this rumour is correct, I'd imagine there'll be a similar distance between Moore and DC proper.

I have a feeling IPC would have to change quite a few of their spots, and DC likewise. That said - A or L Moore on the Steel Claw... hell, anybody with a decent track record the the Steel Claw... what a thought. Not to mention Dolman - but what about Mytek, Galaxus, King Cobra, that fella who could hypnotise himself, and - choke, good lord - THE LEOPARD FROM LIME STREET???

It's surely too good to be true.

The Leopard... the Leopard...

The man who ruined that, he would be a ruined man.

If you catch my drift, senoir.

There really are loads of characters to play with.  Something I'm always nervous about.  King Cobra was DC Thompson, but you're right.

If it brings out collections of these dusty treasures then maybe it will be worth the risk of it going bad.

Dammit... I think 'Ron Smith', I automatically think 'IPC'... X-Bow was DC as well, wasn't he?

He was, I'm not very familiar with him though.  I think I've read a single annual story.

"X-Bow was DC as well, wasn't he?"

Yeah, X-Bow was DC Thompson as well. He was a crime-fighting vigilante with a motorbike and a gadget ridden crossbow.

He was also a modern day take on Robin Hood, in the way that he would take a cut of any of the villains loot for himself (gadget ridden crossbow ammunition doesn't come cheap y'know) and a cut to donate to a needy charity.

He also had a motorbike riding nemesis (not THE Nemesis), who I think was called the Green Archer (I can't remember. It wasn't that good), and carried a bow instead of a crossbow. It had loads of gadgets too though.

Mangamax

That is good news if true.
How about having a crack at my Icon counterpart? With Kevin O'Neill of course - he's proven he can do a quirky Victorian era tale already.
Failing that, my votes for The Black Max.
The perspective on that chairs all wrong

Alan Moore can draw, but he doesn't usually draw comic books.  I'm not sure what you mean Tweak.

My only concern is that this opens up the characters for any old hack to join in.  I've read the Action special and seen what can happen.

Ah well, we'll see.

ESCUBRIA

Yea, Moore can draw, kind of like a cross between Herge & Robert Crumb -not bad.
