Reprint Firekind! (in the right order)

Just felt like saying it, it's been over a year since I asked last, and I don't like people to get complacent. Particularly people who are wasting good tree on Bix Barton the moment...

This again?

Y'know, I think Firekind's about the only acclaimed story in 2000AD history that I've never actually read.

I used to get confused with that pish about dragons disguised as people, but now I understand it's something different.

Good, is it?

I would certainly buy a collected reprint of Firekind.  Assuming it was all in the right order, anyway.

no way.........

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

ooops, dozed off just thinking about it

thrillpowerseeker

YES way................Firekind is one of 2k's hidden gems..defo more deserving of a reprint than tosh like Ant Wars

WoD

it's one of my all time favourites (at least in my memory).  Would be interested to see how it would fair today.

thrillpowerseeker

I reread it all a while back..I'd go so far as to say its John Smiths best work

Floyd-the-k

by all means...2000ad stories I haven`t read should all be reprinted. What was good about it?

Bico

Hmmm.
Surely if it was reprinted in the right order, it wouldn't be faithful to the original experience of reading it?
I'd still buy a collected edition, though, and what with the dragons featuring heavily, it probably makes some kind of sense to try and cash in on the Lord Of The Rings bandwagon before it leaves town for good - Mind you, a second book of Witchworld would've been a good idea about a year ago, too.  Up the action quota and introduce some characters ripped off - sorry, 'inspired' by 'Rings', and you might have flim-flammed a few extra readers for tooth.
Anyway, Firekind reprint?  Yes, definately.

guess its all that fantasy dungeons and dragons stuff, sword and sorcery thing that puts me off

way back in warrior, steve moore's spiral path was a right snore-a-thon, likewise his tales of tegluuth or whatever its called. slaine has its moments...once every few years.

now somebody pull me up on firekind not being that sort of story at all...tell me it's visionary or something.

maybe its just john smith's stuff i'm not keen on these days. apart from the odd hellblazer episode and a few odds and sods, i can't say i've enjoyed much from him in the last few years. devlin waugh had great potential and then failed to meet it, tyranny rex got way confusing, and now it's back it's just boring.

reprint firekind all you like, i woon't be buying it, but certainly those who haven't seen it before should be afforded the opportunity to judge for themselves.

i must just be out of touch with what's going on in comics, because i thought that the period in question was an all time low for tooth, and i was only buying it because i always have....

christ, what a miserable old bastard i am!!

'what was good about it?'

Everything, the story was lyrical, the artwork outstanding..it was just one of those times when everything gels in a story and you get a good feeling about life, loved ones and the universe...frankly its been criminal neglect that theres never been a gn when you consider the likes of Atavar,Hewligans Haircut and Bison have recieved the treatment

thrillpowerseeker

And Finn is another that is well overdue...its probably wasted with the bods at rebellion..but if Vertigo had it it would be getting the treatment
