Erm, the dealers will swarm onto you before the event even opens and try and rob you of any bargains.  Don't sell them than less than you intended, and say you'll consider it at the end of the day.

I solds Solar Wind at a mart (not as good as a comic festival for original stuff), but the comics I sold paid for the table and bought me a pile of old 2000ADs.  So it was worth it at least once.  Interesting day out, met a few genuinely nice chatty people.

What original artwork have you got and for what prices?
I'm always wondering what sort of prices they go for at fairs rather than on Ebay.

God bless you David. It's been soooo long since I went to one of these. Last time I got 25 issues of the complete Judge Dredd (still with all the original cover gifts!) for 20 quid!

And John McCrea got drunk and I had to tell him my name three times!

Hooray!

It looks like this is going to be a pretty good event! This sort of thing doesn't happen often in Ireland!

I'll be there too, with a dealer's table, pushing my own upcoming convention. [Cue shameless plug] That's Octocon, of course... Guest of Honour Tanith Lee, with lots of other big-name SF guests (Harry Harrison, Anne McCaffrey, Storm Constantine, Kim Newman), plus some 2000 AD VIPs: Paul J. Holden, Gordon Rennie, and The Mighty Tharg himself; Matt Smith!

Shameless plug ends!

Wynn's sounds like fun.  Any chance of any errrmmmm... peripheral merchandise, like ummm, movie memorabilia,  and suchlike... Oh allright, I give in, anyone likely to flogging Star Wars stuff?  I've got a habit, gruddammit (wookie on my back?), and even The Third Place can't seem to satisfy it.  There, i've said it.  I hope you're all happy.

Mike Carroll

I imagine that there'll be a lot of Star Wars stuff there...

I don't have much myself, but I DO have the quite rare Ralph McQuarrie Return of the Jedi portfolio. That's assuming that it doesn't go tomorrow night - Tuesday - at Concise (a one-night mini-convention in Bowe's Pub, Fleet Street). More info about Concise on the Octocon website!

(oooh, another shameless plug!)

I don't have much Star Wars stuff myself, but I DO have the quite rare Ralph McQuarrie Return of the Jedi portfolio. The cover is slightly worn - it is twenty-one years old, after all - but the contents are in mint condition.

However, it's going up for auction tomorrow night - Tuesday - at Concise (a one-night mini-convention in Bowe's Pub, Fleet Street - more info about Concise on the Octocon website or on www.lostcarpark.com). If you're interested, come along to Concise, or - if you can't make it - contact me ASAP and maybe we can work something out!

Cheers,
Mike

Goddamn pushers.

Cheers for that Mike, I'll see how I'm fixed and get back to you.

What's this ROTJ portfolio thing then? Is that the preproduction paintings that he did (about twenty or so in a cardboard wallet?). I think I have that (and Star Wars and Empire - my Empire even had a doubler in it*).  Is that the thing?

*and it's got no staples in it either - must be worth a fortune.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Mike Carroll

Tiplodocus: Yep, that's the one!
