As we all probably know, James Cameron occasinally mentions in interviews all the ideas that he's come up with for Alien 5.

Sigourney Weaver (as we all also know) sent the franchise into a death roll because of her obsession with a)starring in them and b) controlling the direction of them, despite her total ignorance when it comes to what people want from them.

She has recently said the following:

"I always said to Tom Rothman, who runs Fox, that I thought it would be interesting to do a small, spooky movie, more like the first one; a psychological thriller that could take Ripley to whatever the next stage may be. Which side would win out, the Jekyll or the Hyde?"

Maybe if we all f*cking SCREAM at the top of our lungs, she'll finally hear and get it. All together now...

IT ISN'T ABOUT RIPLEY YOU DELUDED PRAT!! IT'S ABOUT ALIENS! THAT'S WHY THE FILMS ARE CALLED ALIEN FILMS!! NOT 'THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF RIPLEY'!! ALIENS! ALIENS! ALIENS! NOT YOU!'

Ahem. I do actually like SW, except for that.

wouldn't mind the new movie being based on the rumour I heard a couple of months ago, Earth ravaged by Aliens(as in the books) last bastion of humanity living in artifical worlds orbiting earth, send down kick arse marines to help clear off the earth, nice simple action plot with tonnes of scope for creating new Aliens(the earth is over run, they need something aside humans to breed in cue huge Elephant Alien, sleek water based Alien). However i did hear Ripley was gonna be innit so??????

Re-name em the Chronicles of Ripley.

Shame they didn't go for that Alien 3 script that saw Ripley blasted into space and Hicks taking over as the lead.

The great thing about the first film was that it was about a bunch of strong characters - likewise the second. However, after that, it's become "The Ripley Show". Screaming at Weaver won't do any good, though.

In one of the books, Ripley comes back as a clone or something, with no memories of Alien 3. She turns up on a big orbiting spce station thing with earth overrun with h'aliens.

Pisses me off that they didnt base the AvP film on one of the books.

Bah, everyone knows that the Dark Horse comics are the true continuation of the aliens franchise...

Quirkafleeg

... well until they went all cartoony and wrong.

And what happened to Ridley Scott's prequal project?

Yeah it all went down hill from Alien3 when the basically the producers started making the films instead of having a strong director

Sam Kieth is a comics genius, but totally wrong for Earth War.

After that it was a pretty mixed bag, with occasional highlights depending on the creator. I kind of got the impression that Dark Horse lost the will to spend money on decent people after a while though.

El Spurioso

One of my guilty pleasures is the first Aliens Vs. Predator graphic novel; with that japanese woman and the big rhinocerous-cow thingies and so on.  Beautifully designed, all of it.

Art

That shouldn?t be a guilty pleasure, it was ace! And about a thousand times more fitting and more plausible than the FOX offering.

Of course then Chris Clareont had to screw it all up with his gibberish about genetically engineered alien/predator/human hybrids bred by evil corporations to blah blah blah blah...

Quirkafleeg

>That shouldn?t be a guilty pleasure, it was ace!

Oh yes... there was a later one with some bloke who lived forever or something. It was very wrong.

Earth ravaged by Aliens(as in the books)

what books???

but the viewer needs a common focal point, something to connect the films together, a hero.  ripley is our hero.  now, i liked her in the first two movies.  i liked her character and journey in the first movie, and how that affected the person she became in the second.  the problems with everything that came after that was that they were shit.  and so the character turned to shit (though the idea of human alien hybride is kinda cool).  i'm glad hicks didn't take over as i was not that thrilled with the character in the first place.

just flicked through the new ultimate x-men that came in the post.    wolverine cuts away from the rest of the group but the story follows him, not someone else, say...the x-men.  it happens with everything, popular character, you do it to death........and spidermans in it too...i think i hate cross overs.......

Tweak72

silent horror at your ignorance at alians 1 and 2 first one monocrome the second in brilliand colour both books are stunning and were written before alien 3 came out so the timeline is different both are a prelude to alien war which sucked a lot more that even the later films

I did read one of aliens comics that featured the further adventures of Hicks, Newt etc. I then read a novel that used the same plot but with different characters. I think it came out after Alien3 and was written by the guy who did Shadows of the empire.
Did you know Christ was a werewolf?
