Wasn't hugely looking forward to it when I realised the original writer wasn't on it.  But was pleasantly surprised by the first one, and enjoyed the second one too.  Seems quite faithful to the original in mood.

A couple of really cartoonish scenes I find a bit cringeworthy.  The first appearence of the drunken hero, and the sex scene.

Overall, I don't mind it at all!  Lots happens in each episode, good characterisation and fun.

I haven`t seen the original.
It has been the occasion of one of the best, most striking covers in years. That doesn`t mean the story is any good of course, you could say the same of BabeRace 2000.
I agree about the very cartoony scenes. It seems fun. I agree that there`s a lot happening in each episode and that the characters are good but overall I`m not sure what to make of it. I loved the scene of her going home on the train looking tired.
what was the original one like?

The original at the time was an odd, brief series, fun enough, but not a classic.

As the intro said, the guy just gets on the wrong bus and it transports him to another world where he is expected to solve their problems for them.

Would have been good to have the original in an Extreme, just so readers didn't feel left out.  Unless they are planning to stitch the two together for a graphic novel.

The Amstor Computer

Not liking it all, I'm afraid - packed with cliche, some rather ugly art (mixed with some great, which seems to be par for the course with Higgins) and no "hook" to get me interested. Like Asylum II, it's just sat in the comic between strips I am interested in.

House of Usher

**SPOILERS**

The first part didn't grab me, but the second episode really caught my imagination. The sex scene took me by surprise, but given Kilquo's ability to change her appearance at will it made a pervy kind of sense. Carl's first (drunken) appearance was very off-putting, and by page 2 of the second episode, he's been quite marginalised as a character, which is fine by me. All that stuff about him needing to cover his modesty was way overdone and milked for all it was worth (which wasn't much).

As for a hook, what more do you need than the government exploiting Kilquo's powers in the way they want to? And what they then do on the last page of part 2?
STRIKE !!!

i thought they got better once rod left.

ARRISARRIS

... i like it, but is it me or does it look like  a reprint of a sequal that would have (or should have) appered in 2000ad in the 800's???...

How odd, I was going to ask exactly the same question (About peoples thoughts on Faces)- I few technical problems prevented me from posting earlier though.

So anyone else here like to see a 2000ad Extreme Edition reprinting Freaks and The Dead- combined in one book (to make a worthy little package).

Cheers

Bolt-01

Freaks and the dead would indeed be a nice collection.

House of Usher

STRIKE !!!

I remember loving The Dead at the time, I'd love to see it reprinted, but Freaks would definately have to take priority

REPRINT WEIRDO MILLIGAN STUFF NOW!

Dudley

I got The Dead in a Best Of Monthly, and thought it ROCKED.

On Faces, I'm really enjoying it so far.  The pacing is much better-done than most artist-turned-writers manage, and the art makes me laugh.

So far, it's enjoyable but throwaway, which puts it a distinct second place to Lob Random.  But with the forthcoming addition of a plot, it has genuine potential.

I picked a rubbish time not to be reading the prog, didn't I?
