I'm about to submit a script to the guys at 2000AD soon, but there's one thing I can't wrap my head around.

It says you shouldn't send originals of your work, only photocopies, because they can't be held responsible if what you send in goes missing or something. Which makes sense...if you're an artist, right?

But since when has paper been so expensive for writers? I just wasted sheets of the stuff today printing out work for University because the library printers kept playing up.

Am I right in assuming that the 'Only send in photocopies!' rule is for artists? If so, the page needs to be updated a bit. :)

Devons Daddy

are you bombarding the nerve centre with scripts then?

i have no idea on the answer to your question, but it sounds logical in this day and age we all have printers dont we.
I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Dudley

I think they'd assume that any half-serious writer dude would have his scripts on disc: any printouts getting lost wouldn't really matter in that situation.  Unless you're using an ancient Remington typewriter, sitting there in your garret with the candles flickering all around?  In which case, good luck with your Terror Tale!

Tordelbach

..with just a slight defective upturn in the middle serif on the uppercase 'E', which is how Tharg will know that the anonymous death threats are from you, once those rejection chits start flooding in.

Wake

Just read it as "Don't send your only copy of your work". If you have written a script on a computer then any printout is a copy, rather than an original.

Noisybast

It'd be difficult to send the original in that case.
Can you imagine the P&P costs to send your PC to Oxford?
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

Bolt-01

So I shouldn't send my only stone tablet carvings of a Dredd Mega-epic then?

Have you any idea how long it'll take me to make a second set?!

Bolt-01

Buddy

I think that refers to artwork. Don't send the original cos if it gets lost you're buggered!!

Scripts (I'm guessing) are generally printed from a computer, so just sent a printout.
