Isolated, missing stuff.

Old board member returns. Shock horror. Ah, but he wants something. Ohhh, I see.

Am now living in the arse-end of nowhere. Hence, unable to get some of the stuff that used to fall into my hands with ease off the shelves. Namely:

Extreme-  The Mach One issue AND the latest one.
Prog 2005: Victoria Station Giveaway edition.

I phoned Rebellion about the Extreme Editions- and they are happy to send me them... with an additional ?6.95 each for postage! Are they delivering them by hand? Care of Madonna? Sigh.

If anyone can help with the above comics, I will pay in advance.

Could do with some help, and, as I was recently told by the WHSmiths magazine lady that she was stopping stocking the Meg due to poor sales- and then went and bought three copies to bump it up a bit- I am feeling like I've done my bit for the cause and would be very grateful for some aid.

Any responses would be appreciated.

Forgot to say- I live in Hastings. Been all over- and to Eastbourne and Brighton looking for the EEs, to no avail. Distribution is really up the shitter, isn't it?

HI Steev, wondered where you'd gone.

Get the EE's on yer sub, man. It's a pain if you don't like the strip being run, but there are some real gems out there waiting to be seen again.

I'd like a copy of the alt cover myself, but I doubt there'll be many around.

Used to have a sub to it- for the first year. Then I got poor and didn't resub, then I missed an issue, now I log on and find I've missed another. I am almost frantic with shame and worry.

As for the alt 2005- didn't know it existed til today when I was outbid on ebay in the last *s e v e n  s e c o n d s*. Hate that!

And I was having such a good week too... what with the complete run of Tornado turning up here at work, along with the holiday special just yesterday. In the middle of a staff meeting too.

Anyway. If anyone has access to the latest EE and will accept payment, please let me know. Same goes for spares of last issue and the alt 2005.

I'm at work here, so no time to post multiple messages, so, quick prog 1420 review:

Cover: Blinding Langley loveliness. Phallic castle, silly monsters. "here are my genitals, please touch them", etc.

Dredd: Blah blah. Hate the art, have forgotten the story.

2nd City Blues: Dunno yet. Liked the first ep. A bit 'China Mieville-y to me for some reason. Second part chugging along. No strong opinion as yet, other than- better than Synnammon, Asylum etc.

Cabbies: Like it a lot. Would like to see another artist's take on it though. And I too have seen that deserted building before- or one very like it. Hanbury Street? I forget.

Slaine: RAAAARGH! Langley continues to astonish, Mills tells good stories that, of late, don't fit too well into little chunks. We need more collections of his work. This series defined by individual panels and splash pages and what they represent/ how they move the story on.

Dante: Lovely to have it back. It should be an, at least, half-year resident, every year. Absorbing, immaculately rendered and featuring Darius as Dante.

Great prog. But the Meg, entirely due to Charley's War, is still ahead by a nose.

Do a resub but get them to start it from the issue you missed. That's what they did with me.

:: with an additional ?6.95 each for postage!

Um. That's totally and utterly insane, and rather unlike the company's usual postage rates. For ?6.95 *each*, I'd expect a courier to deliver the things the same day?at least, if you're living in the UK.

As for the Meg and its sales, I think that's a shame. However, most of the WHSmith stores in my local area seem to carry all of 2000 AD's stuff (with the sole exception, apparently, of the WHSmith in my town).

Hi David, and all who replied...

Many thanks- David let me know if you have luck with the Flesh edition... and thank you very much. Hope the kids are good. Our second is due in the next couple of weeks!

Any spare copies of the Mach ONE one hanging about? And the alt prog 2005? Sigh.
