The Doom Monkey

Im producing a webpage as a peice of GCSE media work, partly on comics (particularly on 2000ad)and need to know what pepole want on a site.

Pleas could you tell me what you want, the main options being
>news
>opinions
>humor
>web comics
>links
>RPG tips
>downloads
>preety colours
and anything else you think would be good.
(don't say flash, i can't do flash, no flas.)

The Doom Monkey

flash, sorry. i forgote the "h" on flash, flash needs an "h", or else it becomes "flas", which has no meaning.

Content is King, so I think the main thing is to make a site where you'll enjoy creating original content yourself, whatever subject that turns out to be.

Content is King

absolutely 100% true... many sites go for style over content and, although they may make some kind of splash in the short-term, people won't return unless the content changes on a fairly regular basis

you think this isn't me? that's so sweet...

Regular boarder in this site praising shocker!

No Flash - great rule: I can't stand Flash sites, they're all sh*te.

Content is very important, as the above lot have said - but you also have to be unique with the content to create a truely good site - think: Why should someone go to your site instead of an existing site (such as this one).
(As the purpose of your site is for points for your exams rather then entertaining the websurfing masses, it doesn't matter so much - but it's worth thinking about.)

Better set your phaser to stun.

And if you want a links -

here's one to my 'Zenith' site:

There are some well-designed sites on my links thread. Good for seeing what works and what doesn't.

u being sarcastic there boy? :)

btw, if i had a complaint about this very site, i'd say that this content doesn't change nearly enough as it should.

before i get a whole load of abuse, i of course acknowledge the msgboard (natch) and Wake's continual contribution in making sure that the latest prog/meg/xe info is all up to date in a timely and regular fashion. Add to that the artist and story info also and i'm sure it takes more time than i realise.

my complaint is more towards "official" news and the like which seems to be drip-fed towards the site rather than being showcased here... i'm sure i remember a thread about this a while back so i'll go away and check that out.

gavin's 2000adreview site seems to have a lot more going for it re articles and interviews (although i do prefer this msgboard). maybe this site was never meant to do that, but if it's official then i'd like to read more official stuff - am i the only one who bookmarks the msgboard page rather than the home page?

Slippery PD

Nope I rarely visit the hompage, especially at work.  Because there isnt a lot changing on it.  (your point I think)

I've haven't visited the home page on purpose in ages

House of Usher

One thing I like is a website that's really easy to navigate. One that says go here if you want this, go there if you want that.
STRIKE !!!

I'd quite like to see news here before anywhere else.
