House of Usher

I have been thinking about getting myself a website for some time.

My service provider, NTL, tells me I have 55mb of free webspace. Trouble is, I don't know how to find it or what to do with it if I did. Yes, I know a bit of HTML code.

Anyway, looking at the Monster Club website Byron's put up, I'm suddenly intrigued by the possiblities offered by www.freewebs.com

It looks so easy! Would that be a good place to start? Please help - I'm totally adrift in a sea of something-or-other...

If you have webspace (55MB is loads) and you know HTML, all you need is an FTP client to transfer files to that webspace. NTL will let you have these details I'm sure, and AceFTP is a decent Freeware client which is dead easy to use.

Far better to use this than any free space out there which I guess is littered with ads etc..

I've got ntl - you'll need to download Terrapin FTP (which IIRC is free and available from the NTL site, linked below)

your webspace is probably

Better set your phaser to stun.

Okay, thanks for these tips. I'll be tipping my toe in the water soon.

Back in the day I learned how to code HTMl from this site... Of course a lot of it is horribly out of date by now (I'd advise using CSS Styles over FONT tags, for instance).
