Its always dredd this, rogue that,aBc the other. And well it should be!
Just this morning I realised that Id been thinking of Bix whilst on the site and never really asking about him.
Was he actually in 2000ad? Or...no he had to be.I thoght it was crisis, but it cant be.

Hes possibly, not the most loved, charactor on the board, but I thought he showed a lot of potential.
OK if hes blamed for lack of sales or a stone in the wheels of progress, fine.

I would like to know if the stories i glimpsed were the only readings of him.(These were maybe the first of his tales and maybe a second run.)

Investigater of the Rum and Uncanny,a bit Hellblazer, you say?

It _was_ tooths tho,in any case and Id like to know how he became an obscurity, how the story pushed on for so long. Am I wrong about this? Is he due for release in the next year?

Where are the archives and what do any one involved in the series think of it now.

my work here is done.
Jimmy:)

Investigater of the Rum and Uncanny

Master of the Run and Uncanny wasn't it? Byt written by Pete Milligan - so obviously brilliant. Also resurrected in a recent Extreme Edition where he adorns the cover.

JimmyS, Bix Barton was a recurring character for about five years.  I'm not the biggest fan of Jim McCarthy's artwork, but thought the scripts were extremely clever and witty, and there were weeks when it was easily the best thing in the prog.  You can track down more details and a story list at my site...

i never liked him.
for me it was all a bit silly, i get the EE as i sub. i read it with an open mind.
found it dull and tired.

but i did consider it once again a typical of 2000ad type of thing, in so much as that,
never done before, completely differnt
not expected to be liked by everyone.
slightly off centre, new style of art work.

it had its fans, i was just not one of them.
i found it all a bit OH HUMM, to be honest.

it was out of step with the comic at that time, still would be now i believe, but that was  part of its strengh.

I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Oh I agree, the goalposts could have been widened.

The *subject matter was out of step, perhaps and maybe there was little research done.

The concept is superb and nowhere as near out of step with anything of the time, Infact McCarthy was doing annual covers at the time.

There is a charactor, who is an inversion of what he could have been.
Instead, of the layed on cheeky chappy  material, a more blacker humour, could be a more satisfying read.

Devons Daddy

more blacker humour, could be a more satisfying read.

for me that may have been what i was hoping for also.when i got the EE i was hoping i had missed something at the time due to my age, which would offer so much more now.

it was a decent enough strip, not really sci fi or  a futurist tale of unlikely things based just enough in reality to give it substance,
but i can see why it was popular and was a reoccuring character.

i would not myself rate it amongst the classics, but i would not be able to give enough evidence to it being without merit.

Satanist

It was in 2000AD round about the time I quit buying it. Bix was one of the few things I enjoyed at the time and I wouldnt mind seeing a return.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Cane could have been more subversive, I was always hoping for some Quazi-religious staff meets arrogent walking stick, but alas.

I thought the step with the Carry On lot, was nearing the casts more troubled souls that they were.
Touching on what, most of us were finding out about them. Tragic comedy also has a depth of inter-dimensional potential too,tho and the inner demons were only lightly brushed against.

Still, Bix Barton raised a smile, albiet a  chin rubbing slightly confused one.
