Tediously, I'm drawing one and when I looked online to see what they look like, I found two varieties- the ones in red (which is what I expected to find) and some guys in navy blue.  Are these blue guys the modern version or something?

Can anyone help me out?

Cheers-

Matt

To be honest- I just assumed that it was a really dark blue- like a policeman's uniform.

Go on- somebody tell me that they're black too...

I think I remember asking when I went to the tower (totaly trumped up charges, got let out pretty quick). I think the Blue are officers

House of Usher

"The Warders get two uniforms, the ceremonial red-and-gold worn for state occasions, such as when the monarch visits the Tower, and the everyday blue ?undress? uniform. They and their families get a grace-and-favour residence at the Tower (the tidy little houses faces Tower Green) though they must own a home elsewhere so they have somewhere to go when they retire."

From the "Historic Royal Palaces"

*  There are two uniforms for the Body. The ceremonial uniform is worn for State Occasions ie, when the monarch visits the Palace or for any state occasion that the Body attends. It is predominantly red and gold with red stockings, white ruff and black patent shoes.

* For everyday wear, the Yeoman Warders wear a blue undress uniform. There are two weights - for summer and winter - and this is the uniform visitors will see day to day when they come to the Tower.

The red uniforms look dressy- medals, tights, garters etc. in comparison to the navy/black uniforms which appear more casual and workman-like.

Go on JEB, show us yer Beef..

Aha!  Confusion passed, crisis averted, excuse not to just get on with it gone (curses).
