Anyone got a Good, Fast Scanner and some spare time?

My second begged-favour of the day.

I'm after someone with access to a decent colour scanner, a full recent-prog collection, and enough spare time to do me 30 seperate A4 scans.  I know this is dead cheeky, but my scanner just conked out on me (it was never much good anyway) and I'm after some visual reference stuff.

I can't really think of any costs it would feasible for me to offer to pay for, but anyone willing to give it a crack would certainly be eligible for a) Beer and b) the perhaps-maybe-potential-one-day naming of a City Block/Character/Vehicle/Weapon after them.  Or something.

Anyone?

Cheers,

Si -

I've got a bundle of scanning to do and a full collection of recent progs, so I can certainly fit in 30-odd pages.

Email me off-board & we can sort something out.

You're Si's wife now!

I could probably fit a few in, if you want to split the labour & get the scans back quicker.
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

As a script droid wouldnt it be easier to get one of Tharg's droids to post you the Progs?

I have all of the half-decent stories from the last 100 or so Progs scanned as jpg's & saved as comic book reader (.cbr) files on my hard drive.  Let me know which series you want.

Marbles...how do you convert the files?

Oh I missed this!
Got bought a scanner recently but have no real use for it, this would have been PERFECT chance for me to try it out...and I'm off work to...
;-)

Converting files - this is dead easy.

.cbr & .cbz files are just manually renamed .rar (winrar) & .zip (winzip) files full of the scanned jpgs.

so to diy your electronic GN just _

scan the progs to jpgs, making sure you name the scanned pages in order ie 01.jpg,02.jpg etc - this is important or the Comic Book Reader will display pages in the wrong order.

Add the the jpgs to a Zipped ot Winrar'd file.

Rename the extension to .cbz or .cbr depending on the program you used to zip it.

As long as you have the free Comic book Reader sofware you can view your comics on the screen !

nb. Theres a good cbr program on the link below.

nbb. sadly (as with anything digitised) it means that almost any comic you ever dreamed of is available to download & read for free via P2P networks such as emule or bittorrent...
