According to feminist literary criticism, men can be pro-feminist or feminist sympathisers (love that one!) but not your actual feminists. The principles of feminism are to do with socio-economic equality for men and women, but to this day it's still a developing and widening field. (hence the non-agreement point, i guess) As more inequalities are addressed, new ones arise to take their place - like the rights of women to work in any chosen field is being addressed and replaced by the 'glass ceiling' theory.

I wish i had some more gay animal anecdotes to go with that...

Of course 'Feminism', as an abstract political ideology, can technically be applied to anyone meeting a certain set of pre-ordained criteria.

But a fly has significantly less pain receptors than a human being, so it would have much less of an effect.

Actually, I was only using the "as a feminist' remark as a joke, on account of posting the 'nice tits' and 'cunt' remarks - but the fact that 'feminism' excludes would-be adherants on the basis of gender is surely hypocritical?  Are feminists the commies of the equality campaigning world, then?

Seeing as feminism started as a movement supporting women's independance, it doesn't sound unusual to me. It's a bit out of order to exclude supporters though, definitely

But I would point out that it's only radical feminist theory that doesn't include men - in the overarching philosophy we can find both men and women, due to its nature as a simple abstract series of concepts.
