Steamboy

my progging has progressed beyond tooth and now anything with an issue number is a Prog(as in dog)

CU Steamboy

VampiraJen

while we're on the subject, i'm currently reading halo jones and i was wondering:

is it pronounced:

hay-low

or

hah-low

coz i've always said the former but now i'm not so sure............

Lord Running Clam

I've always said hay-low.

I've about to read halo jones, myself. Is there something in it to make you thing its pronounced differently?

VampiraJen

i had a flashback to that anniversary strip.  you know the one where all the characters are together, and sisnister makes a joke, and a halo to you too.  it doesn't play properly if you say hay-low.  i'm just nitpicking,  which is what this strip is all about

and it's prog as in vouge

Trout

So that's 80% of you rhyming it with "dog".

You idiots!

- Trogue

Max Kon

You say prouge?

Then you are the idiot, as the oxford dictionairy says you are. It is spelt prog not prouge and should be pronounced like that.

Obviously you're not a golfer.

Floyd-the-k

Like someone else said, whichever way you say it, you'll sound way nerdy.
For mine, it's pronounced to rhyme with 'dog'. Being short for 'programme' makes no difference, otherwise we'd have to say:
ASAP to rhyme with 'cat', because the A is short for 'as'
IBM with the I sounding like 'it' because I is short for international

yours saying 'prog' in a quiet voice when forced to say it at all

Quirkafleeg

I pronouce it 'The Trout's trying to wind us up again'

Trout

I bloody well am not, you twit.

It's short for "programme".

Tweak72

Trout just got served AND owned by Max
+++THRILL POWER, OVERWHELMING++++++THRILL POWER, OVERWHELMING+++

Trout

None of you tossers are making any sense.

This is me trying to be nice, y'know!

Wils

Bloody hell. Next you'll be telling us that nougat should be pronounced "new-gar", then we'll *have* to take drastic measures.

Newsagent: "Ah! Mr Troutington-Bollocks. Have you come to pick up your 2000ad progues? I'm afraid progue 1454 has been delayed by the proletariat, so you'll just have to make do with your new-gar and scoans today. Whatwhatwhat?"

;)

Trout

It's pronounced "Scoon".

I drive past the place every day.

Wils

I notice you didn't argue 'new-gar', though... ;P
