Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

I was disappointed with them - but then they are aimed at the younger audience.

They don't really hold up well to his later books - particularly the last Gaurds book he did.

Maybe worth a read if your a big fan (I'd read all of his other books so read theses for completions sake).

Of his younger-reader books I think the Wee free men is the best (unless you always got a bit distressed trying to read Middenface McNulty dialogue!).

Only You Can Save Mankind was alright, as was Johnny And The Dead.  A bit brief, but actually lacking that corny Americanisation that afflicts Pratchett's Discworld books these days, and you get the real feeling that he might not be too afraid of writing an unhappy ending.

ios it just me or does that girl in the photo look like she's levitating?

SIP

She also appears to be bathed in some eerily supernatural light.

Dark Jimbo

Wasn't there an ITV series of Johnny and the Dead years back, with Bernad Cribbins as Einstein or something? That was pretty good, I thought.

(I'll leave it to another boarder to find a link or something, as I'm a lazy arse).

Lobo Baggins

Actually, I think that's pretty much the only Terry Pratchett novel that anyone could afford to make on a BBC Children's TV budget.  I'm just hoping that it doesn't look as tatty as the Fungus the Bogeyman they made last year...
The wages of sin are death, but the hours are good and the perks are fantastic.

Truckers was managed to be made on a childrewn's tv budget

Dark Jimbo

TRUCKERS!!! Oh my good god, I'd forgotten all about that! What a great series!!

I did say a BBC Children's TV budget :)  This seems to consist entirely of a gunge allowance these days...

I meant live action - there were also cartoons of Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music.

I'd completely forgotten Truckers!

I just seen some of the child actors doing their thing...they were using the 'prison / police' part of the set.
