Movies mean a lot to me.

In grounding other peoples OTT opinions they are invaluable to me.

Its my birthday today. (Call me an A.W. but I still love you all. Even my Nemesississ's)

And to start my morning off I watched Once Upon A Time In America.

To me, it wraps up my circum-navigation through a cruel, cool world and becoming 33 it meant a lot to me this morning to have the film in my collection.

I could not watch Terminater to see that I can get a measure of my recyprical thread.(LIFE)

So. My curiosity was.... what IS the boards birthday movie.

The one that set ones mind at ease and disperses the encroaching fears of oncoming inevitability.(If you have one.)?

I had more written down, but you people tolerate me enough.

BANG!!

Woolly

Grave of the Fireflies.  Very uplifting film that gives rise to a belief that even the most tragic of lives or circumstances could be the birth-pains of something better.
The individual must acknowledge his place - within the group, comrade.

The Enigmatic Dr X

Lock up your spoons!

If you had to choose a film to watch every year on  your birthday, what would it be?

Ive never heard of the film you mentioned. Its looks like it is the sort of film which you should never tire of.

Id like to have a viewing so Ill keep my I out for it.

"If you had to choose a film to watch every year on your birthday, what would it be?"

Aaaah, i see...
It'd have to be a different film or trilogy each year for me.
But at a push I'd say The Wicker Man.

That or the Dead trilogy.

Dudley

Happy Birthday: partypoppers ahoy?

As for the movie, I'd opt for Clueless any day.

Noisybast

Happy birthday, Carlsborg!
I could probably stand to watch the Star Wars (original) Trilogy again.
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

Lord Running Clam

Happy Birthday.

Off the top of my head I'd say The 'Burbs.

Megadeth

Can't decide so i'll make a shortlist of films that excite me everytime i watch them

Once Upon a Time in the West
Citizen Kane
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The Crow
The Killer
Vertigo
Chunking Express
Duck Soup

Plus about a million more... birthdays just don't last long enough : )

Conexus

Maybe it's been spoilerised to me by too many references in The Simpsons, but outside the cinematography, what is so damn special about Citizen Kane?

Megadeth

You know i find it really hard to put into words what i find so special about Citizen Kane and i'm sure someone else on the board can give you a more intelligent answer.

I am constantly amazed by the film, every single second of it provokes an idea or a thought in my head like no other film can. It's a film that i know i'll never appreciate to it's full potential no matter how many times i watch it.

It was truly revolutionary filmmaking in it's day and it still makes 99% of films look incredibly amateurish to this day. Everything that came after Citizen Kane owed a debt in someway to it.

Just talking about it makes me want to watch it again.

Is it wrong that i'm more excited by Deep Focus than 'Deep Throat' ; )

Conexus

This'll make me seem a right bafoon after harking at Citizen Kane, but my favorite film is Shawshank redemption

Noisybast

No way - Shawshank's an excellent movie!
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

James

If I had my way i'd watch L.A. Confidential every birthday.

I loves it, I do.
