Was the "Judge Dredd Action Special" actually published, or did it never show up?

I ask because I saw a single back-of-prog ad for it in 2000AD (but no follow up), and it's mentioned on Wake's old "collector's list" page.

On the other hand, I can't see it in this site's DB, I've never seen a copy on eBay/Yahoo/FSAuctions/this site's classifieds/etc and, if it exists, it's the only Special I don't have a copy of (and hence haven't read).

So was this published, or did it go the way of the Slaine "King of Hearts" Special (which wasn't published as a special, but was serialised in the prog, as far as I can see)?

I have a copy of it. I just haven't got around to putting it on this site yet.

It's basically a Judge Dredd Lawman of the Future Special, and I haven't put that series on the site yet either.

The only special I'm missing is the Best of 2000AD Special from 2000 with a cross legged Tharg on the cover.

Ah right - thanks, Wake.

I hated the couple of issues of Lawman of the Future I've read, so if that's their special then I can happily ignore it ;-)

The Judge Dredd Action Special No. 1 (dated 1996, price ?2.50) was indeed a Lawman of the Future spin-off. It mopped up all the leftover material from the cancelled title in a 52-page collected edition.

Painted cover by Jason Brashill.
