The Resyk Challenge

I've had a daft idea to test 2K knowledge.

How about an interactive quiz, with five questions and a strict time limit for answers, all run on the message board?

Consulting progs would of course have to be allowed, but the time limit (say five mins) would create some pressure.

We would have to agree an appointment each time to stage it, with both questioner and contestant having a half-hour free to stay by their computer.

It's called after Resyk because I was thinking about Hershey's near-fatal experience there after she was kidnapped by Fink Angel.

Each time you get a question wrong, you move closer to being processed, losing teeth, then finger nails, then eyes, etc.

Eventually, you're munceburgers!

One good part of it, I think, is it would test your comic-book-organising-in-boxes skills, which is, of course, part of every fan boy's never-ending struggle between good and evil.

What does everyone think?

Brilliant idea - except that my 2000AD's are a 20 minute bus ride (on a good day, assuming the bus comes) away from my computer (which is at work).

But I'd be up for a "no peeking" version.

yep i'd go for that - do we get fancy dolly birds showing us the prizes?

Excellent! We have some victims.

There are no dolly birds involved, sadly, but I will draw up a league table of the best of the best, probably based on number and speed of correct answers.

I can do Thursday night, say 7 or 7.30pm, or I can try one during the day, work allowing. Lunchtime would be best.

Any available candidates should e-mail me and I will announce the great event on the board.

NB It has occurred to me other boarders might pitch in with answers. Please do not do so!

However, I think that anyone who's really stuck should be able to "phone a friend" once in each challenge, subject to the time limit.

If they request help, anyone can help them out.

Any comments are welcome - and Scojo involvement is NOT prohibited! :-)

lunch time would be great give me a chance to show how poor my knowledge is to you all hee hee

Oddboy

Sign me up for a weekday lunch.
Let me know by 5pm the day before it's my turn.

Trout

I propose Thursday, 1.30pm for Moly and Friday, 1.30pm for Oddboy.

I'll e-mail you both if there are any last-minute hitches at my end.

Unfortunately, my job can be unpredictable, but it should be okay.

Everybody else should feel free to be on hand in case the contestants needs a lifeline!

FYI: I'm on holiday next week and won't be on the boards, but if the Challenge formula works okay, there's no reason why other people can't take over and run one.

The Resyk Challenge will take the following form:

Five questions. In each case, your answer must be posted with a logged time of no more than five minutes later than the question.

Use of progs is allowed, but a special "closed book" version will be provided on request. I'm trusting you all here.

Oddboy's will take that into account. Moly, let me know what you want.

The five questions will include an easy one to start, at least one multi-parter (more than one answer will be needed) and a bit of a stinker to finish.

Finally, for the record, I'm crap at quizzes. This is designed to be fun and not to show how clever the questioner is.

Looking forward to it!

stodge

i'll have some of that action if for no other reason than to show how crap my meory is and make the other guys looks good.  mine will have to be closed book i'm afraid as i'm at work and my progs are safely tucked away in the attic at home under guard by a small band of teeny-meks....i digress.  let me know where and when and i'll gladly expose my ignorance to the world (only my ignorance though!)....

Trout

Glad to have you aboard Stodge; will wait to see if we get confirmation for the first two.

If no-one else sets a challenge, you might need to wait until I'm back from my week off.

Heading to England for a wedding on the same day as the England-Sweden game. Yes, I'll be wearing a kilt.

Hooray!

Oddboy

Yup!  Friday 1:30.
